When I woke up, I felt hot and cold all over. I shivered, but felt sweat on me and I just wanted to turn all my sensory functions off. I blinked a bit before letting my eyes adjust. Jayce's car. That's where I was.

"J-Jayce?" I ask hoarsely in an almost whisper. My voice cracked along, so I was definitely sick. That wasn't a good sign.

"Don't talk. You're not well and honestly I don't want to hear you right now." He says firmly, and I whine.

"I feel like shit." I croak out, ignoring his 'threat'.

"I can only imagine. Take off your wet jacket and put mine on. We're almost at the hospital. Now be quiet." He instructs. I realize I'm in the back seat, having been too drowsy to notice before. I weakly shrug my jacket off and wrap his warm fleece one around me greedily. I see the skateboard on the floor and smile despite my state. He didn't leave it there. That means he appreciates it! Right?

"Y-you kept th-the s-s-skateboard." I say.

"Shut up." He says, but it's not harsh like he probably wanted it to be. I sigh and glance at the blood that's dried up on my jacket and wince at how much is on the seats.

"Jayce! B-blood, th-there's b-blood on y-your car s-seats." I choke out.

"Will you forget about that? There's blood on you and you're worried about the fucking car seats?! Just keep quiet and don't strain yourself." He orders. I feel the car stop about five minutes later and he opens the door to the backseat to pick me up.

"I c-can walk." I insist. I feel like he's done enough, but he carries me in a way that says 'I dare you to say that again'.

"You're ice cold Skylar. You just have to worry the hell out of me, don't you?" he asks, sounding scared. I finally keep quiet as he leads me inside. I kind of zone out until they're laying me on a bed and I finally relax a bit.

"How much do your hands hurt on a scale of one to ten?" A nurse asks eons later, clicking a pen open.

"F-four m-m-maybe?" I ask, the light being really bright. I was still freezing.

"She's cold, she needs a blanket." Jayce says authoritatively. The nurse jumps a bit at his voice and I forgot he was even here. From the looks of it, the nurse did too.

"I don't know how you got in here, but no one is allowed inside right now. Not unless it's a family member." She says, squinting at him.

"Well her family isn't here and they don't know about this. I don't want to worry them until she's fine again so just let me stay." He says, frowning.

"I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't. Please go in the waiting room and we will notify you of her condition soon." She instructs.

"But-

"J-Jayce p-lease just lis-listen. I'll be okay." I say shakily. I just wanted to sleep forever. Yeah sleeping forever sounded perfect right now.

"Get her a blanket." He barks at the nurse, leaving right after.

"I'll just ask a few more questions. A blanket is on the way." She tell me. I nod in understanding.

"How bad does your foot hurt?"

"Th-three." I breathe out.

"What else hurts?"

"M-my head. Th-throat. And body all over r-really. It's h-hot, but a-also ice cold." I tell her, still shivering.

"I'll be right back. Hang in there Ms. Flynn." She tells me, walking out. I sigh and try not to black out again, but figure it'd be okay because I'm in a hospital now.
