"He did NOT say that!" I say, holding in my laughter because I had Cherry Coke in my mouth.
"I swear he did. And I quote 'Now at least I'll LOOK smarter than you Lillian.'" Lily says, giggling.
"How old was he when he got his glasses again?" I ask, amused at the Lillian part.
"Seven!" she cries out, laughing all over again. Who knew Freddie was such a goofball.
"Well when did you realize you liked him?" I ask. She bites her lip but eventually sighs, giving in.
"It was around seventh grade when I realized there were feelings involved. Truthfully, they might have always been there but seventh grade is when I acknowledged them. He looked really cute in his black jeans and plaid collared shirts with those glasses and I just...I don't know it just happened. But he didn't seem to feel the same way." She says.
"Guys are never very good at showing emotions. Jayce was pretty cocky when he asked me out, but I could tell that underneath, he was nervous." I tell her.
"That's different. You didn't like Jayce first then. He asked you out. It's not like you were waiting." Lily points out. Huh, Melanie pretty much said the same thing.
"I'm just saying. He might now be showing you he likes you, but he does."
"How are you so sure?"
"Call it girl's intuition."
"Anyways, you'll be happy to hear that I've decided to tutor you in Physics. And for free, so feel lucky." She says with some sass. I still had to get used to sassy Lily.
"Free? Well, if you insist." I say, finishing up the last of my Coke. I looked around. We'd been here for half an hour and Freddie didn't show up. I guess he wasn't coming. Bummer because I really thought they'd get to spend some one on one time together. But right when I was thinking this, the cute nerd showed up, with a small rose too.
"Lily?" He asks nervously and the honey blonde turns around in confusion. When she sees the rose, her eyes widen and when she looks up to Freddie, she...glares? Why is she glaring?! She should feel flattered as fuck!
"Oh great. What are you doing here?" She asks in disgust. Wait what the hell is actually happening right now?!
"Lily, I...I got you this rose." He says, a large blush coating his cheeks.
"Why? Because it has thorns and I'm prickly?" She asks, still glaring. How can she not see that it's a romantic gesture?
"N-no. I was wondering if you just wanted to talk for a bit is all. Honest." He says, handing it to her. She practically yanked it away from his grip and crossed her arms.
"Just go away Fredward." She says, turning away from him. Well damn. Wait, Fredward?! Why is she being so mean?! I thought she liked him.
"Lily, maybe you should give him a chance. He doesn't look like he means any harm." I tell her.
"You don't understand." She mumbles to me, eyeing the rose.
"Lily, listen to me. I'm leaving. Talk to him." I advise, gulping down the last of my coke and tossing it in the bin. "See ya." I call and leave before she can protest. I do hear Freddie's voice say 'Lillian, just give me a chance to explain,' before I'm completely out of hearing range. So Fredward and Lillian huh? Weird.

It just hit me. Like a ton of bricks. I'm on Spring Break! No school, homework, or locker slamming for a week! Not that last thing is bad, but it just emphasizes the point. Not having anything else to do, I head to the halfpipe and start on my bucket list I had prepared specifically for this break.
