"Yo Skye, Darrin told me that you and the board dude hit it off or something?" Melanie asks, walking me to my next class.
"Bored dude?" I ask, lost.
"Yeah. The skateboard dude." She elaborates. I face palm myself for thinking stupidly. Why would she say bored dude?
"Oh. Yeah I guess. Nothing more really happened other than us talking, but I'll just see where it takes me, ya know?" I say.
"Yeah. So you and Kenny... That's never happening?" She asks, looking a little...relieved. Wait, did she have a thing for...I now I shouldn't assume, but come ON.
"Me and Kenny? You must be joking. That boy is nothing but a flirt. Besides, I'm looking for a serious relationship. Kenny's probably just looking for a bit of fun." I explain.
"Hey, that's not fair. You can't assume things about him that you don't know." She counters, stopping her footsteps as we reach my class. Well that slightly confirms my earlier suspicion about her.
"Well in any case, we're not a thing nor will we ever be. See ya at lunch." I say, but she stopped me by pulling my arm. I try not to get irritated, but I don't like people touching me like that.
"Skye, he genuinely likes you." Melanie admits.
"It's Skylar." I mumble, sighing. "And I know Melanie. But I'm hoping he'll get over it if I ignore it long enough." I admit hesitantly, walking inside for a boring lesson. I didn't look back, not wanting to have to face my problems for now. That, and I wasn't feeling up to seeing Melanie's disapproving mother look. It was pretty condescending and trust me, no one wants to be on the receiving end of that.

God, class couldn't have been more boring. We got assigned a group project and it hurt because my only friend in that class was Piper, but she's gone now. Instead, I paired up with Julia Winters. She's not bad per say, but she's kind of annoying and talks way too much about her personal life to people she barely even knows.
Trying to have a better outlook, I force a small smile on my face and walk through the halls. Not ten seconds later, I feel someone tug at my shoulder and turn around with a smile, expecting Melanie or Kenny, but raise up an eyebrow when I'm face to face with half-pipe dude. Well, Jayce actually. I forget I know his name. Damn he looked even hotter without his helmet on and I could see all of his messy light brown hair. His blue eyes were mesmerizing and I found myself getting a bit lost in them.
"Hey." He says coolly, looking me over.
"Hey. So did you beat that EastWood kid yesterday or what?" I ask, curious.
"Oh, that. Yeah apparently the kid was new and had no idea how to really skate. We mopped the floor with him." He explained.
"Oh that's...good?" I ask, unsure of how to respond exactly. Luckily he waved it off and gestured to my shirt which said 'Northlake Dolphins'.
"So you do go to Northlake." He says in confirmation. Aw, that's cute. He was thinking about whether we went to the same school or not.
"Yeah. I knew you did from your shirt the other day, but I guess I forgot to mention it." I say, tucking some hair behind my ear. My fake smile was replaced by a real one now and wow I must like this guy. Especially since I didn't give a snarky comment as to how stupid his question was considering I was in the school right now anyways.
"So you busy after school this Friday?" He asks, shy smile lacing his face. It's strange to see someone that had that crazy temper yesterday looking timid now. Regardless I shake my head, wondering with joy what he had in mind.
"Wanna go grab like a smoothie or something? Like a date? Nothing too serious if you're not up for it." He offers, running a hand through his light brown hair. His beautiful blue eyes dart left and right as we walk across the hall. I smile sneakily deciding to both tease him and test his anger.
"Aw, you like me don't you Rocket boy?" I ask poking his cheek. He blinks rapidly and looks anywhere but at me, making me laugh out.
"Maybe I do, is that so wrong?" he asks, a glare replacing his shyness. I bite back a smile. So he does have a short temper. Well, I can deal with that. It's not like I really mind. He seems nice enough and definitely hot enough. Don't look at me like that, I'm not shallow. He's a skater dude and he's obviously into me so it's alright if he gets a little madder than most people.
"I'd love to get a smoothie with you Rocket boy. I like you too." I admit, slightly embarrassed, but mostly composed because I know it's mutual. His scowl is replaced with a smile and he nods thoughtfully.
"Great. Meet me in the far end parking lot to the left after school and I'll take you to Petite Sweets." He says.
"Oooh, do you drive a motorcycle?" I ask dreamily. "Because that would be so cool." I sigh, lost in my own thoughts. His hand waving in front of my face snapped me back to reality though.
"No, I ride a skateboard, remember? But I can borrow my mom's car that day. I paid for a parking spot in case I didn't feel like riding or something." He explains.
"Bummer. Guys who ride motorcycles are sexy." I say with a mock sad expression. He rolls his eyes and nudges me playfully. I'm at my class when I realize he isn't in his and the bell is going to ring in about two minutes.
"Don't you have to get to class?" I ask, walking into my classroom and dumping my back pack on the floor. He follows me inside and picks my bag up to put it on my desk. I smile appreciatively, though I didn't really care that it was on the floor.
"Yeah, wanna walk me there?" He asks jokingly. However I shrug and head to the door.
"Skye, I was joking. You'll be late." He says, stopping me.
"Skylar." I correct. "And it's no biggie. They reset tardies every week and I don't even have one this week." I justify, moving his arm that's preventing me from leaving.
"No." he says, grabbing my arm and yanking me back in class. I huff and cross my arms.
"I'm not asking for your permission."
"It's still no."
"It's my choice whether I want to be late or not, not yours. You can't make decisions for me." I say firmly.
"Well you're not getting late on my account. Now go to your desk." He says just as firmly. I narrow my eyes. Is he for real?
"Move your arm Jayce."
"Go to your seat Skylar."
Huh, for some reason, this is the one time I don't like someone calling me by my actual name. However I'm losing my patience and temper with Jayce and how he thinks he can control me. I make my own choices, no one else.
"Get out of my way right now. You have no right to be caging me in here." I say, raising my voice slightly.
"Where the hell is your teacher?" He asks, looking around the classroom, a glare taking over his once happy face.
"Probably in the bathroom, now move. I sure as hell am not walking you to class anymore, but I'm gonna get a tardy just to prove a point no matter how stupid it sounds. I do what I want when I want." I say, glaring right back at him.
"Great, we didn't even go out yet and we're fighting. Maybe we just shouldn't." He threatens, moving out of the way and looking pissed. I sucked in my cheeks and then puffed them out in frustration.
"Fine! Screw you. You're just a coward and I'm glad this happened before I went out with you. Had I known you give up so easily- I mean we just had a small disagreement- then I wouldn't have even bothered." I say, dismissing him just as the bell rang. "Don't forget to grab a tardy." I say softly, yet harshly just the same, shutting the door, and whatever he was about to say.
