Chapter 23

"Bitch, give me my mints" Maddie spits very harshly.

"I don't have your mints Maddie" I sigh. Maddie had been bossing me around heaps ever since I got here.

"Why not?" She pouts.

"Because I didn't go out today" Maybe I really needed to go out some more. Maybe the beach? Or the park? I don't know I just needed to soak up the sun. Everyone here was really tanned, even white Briley got a golden tan last week and has been bragging about it ever since!

"Thats it I'm going to the beach" I mutter standing up.

"Sweetie don't be too long!" Carly calls from the gym. "Be back in time for the guests that are coming over for dinner!" She adds panting.

"I won't!, I might go to the Santa Monica beach, I want to explore out of Beverly!" I reply.

"Your going to Santa Monica?" Carly says scurrying into the living room panting.

"Yeah why?" Maddie was giving me a dirty look from the chair.

"Briley happened to be at a friends place over in Santa Monica, I was going to pick her this afternoon but I have to set up the house for tonight. I'll give you the address" She adds wiping her sweaty face.

She writes down the address on a piece of torn paper before handing it to me.

"Thanks what time?"

"Just pick her up on your way back" She tells me. I grab a towel from the laundry and my swimmers and head out the door.

The sun was out shining brightly and it was quite hot. Especially here in Beverly! I would have gone to pool but maybe a bit of salt water would do me good.

This beach was very crowded. So much crowded than Bondi beach when we went to Australia. There was about a dozen volleyball nets set up with friends playing. There a big family all laughing as they run into the water.

I set my stuff down not far from the water before heading of into the blue crystal clear calm surf.

Now this was the life I wanted. A life away from Peeta. A life away from Prim and my mother. A life away from Panem. A life away from everything bad.

Well.... At least I thought.

Sorry for the long wait. My iPad, phone and computer were confiscated from me by my parents from the 26th until News years day 🙄. I have also been spending quite a lot of time with my family, there have been heaps of family dinners and barbecue's lately.

Anyway Happy New Years everyone! I had an amazing time with my family last night having a wild party! And for those out of Australia happy New Year's Eve!😅
