". . .Hello?"
A muffled voice answers on the other end of the line. My mum.
"Katniss?" Her voice was squeaky and high pitched, like she'd been crying earlier.
"Mum. It's me." I tell her trying to be as calm as I could.
"Oh Katniss, I was so worried about you!" She sobs into the phone.
"I was going to call the police but then I thought you were at one of your friends houses so I relaxed a bit. When I woke up I realised you still weren't here and I panicked" She cries.
"I'm sorry mum" I sniff starting to tear up myself.
"Sorry for running away! But I just needed to escape the drama from home"
"I know sweetheart. I'm sorry. I do hope your alright up there? Please come home" mum begs.
"Mum can you please just let me stay here for a bit longer. Just too cool off for a bit?' The truth was, I did need a bit longer than one night.
". . . Alright dear, I will speak to your father about some things. I love you" She whispers.
"I know. I love you too." I swallow.
"And when you get back your in sooo much trouble for stealing my money" She breathes. I gulp loudly.
"Yup" I squeak. "Can I speak with Primrose please?"
"Umm, Katniss that's not the best idea sweetheart" She explains hesitantly.
"Why not?" I snap.
"She's up in her room with a couple of friends from school. I don't think she would want to be disturbed." She explains .
"Who?"
"Uh, there's a little girl named Rue? I think, and another called Kadie? Not sure Hunny but it doesn't matter" "Now put your father back on we need to speak" She says.
"Love you, speak soon" I tell her before giving the phone back to Dad. They speak for a bit. Working things out about me.
So this was it huh?, my new life?
