A week later, we were in the New Year, and I felt no different than the last year. Literally nothing has changed, except for the fact that the egg has started to make noises, almost like something is tapping from the inside.
So we now knew something was inside, we just didn't know what. But that didn't stop Ari and I for wanting to hatch it.
"Maybe something like Happy will come out." Ari suggested. "A flying cat that can talk?" I asked in slight disbelief and Ari nodded. "No way. Happy's egg was much bigger. It was almost as big as I was when I was nine." Natsu said. "It was as big as you when you were nine." Grey snorted from beside me.
"Haha. Anyway, when's the wedding?" Natsu asked him and Grey joked. "Natsu, there's not going to be a wedding. It was a joke." I explained. "What do you mean there's not going to be a wedding?! Of course there's going to be a wedding!" Erza yelled, attracting attention from most of the guild. "Ah, great." I sighed, getting ready to be bombarded with questions.
"You said yes! You said I could be your bridesmaid!" Erza shouted in my face. "I want to be a bridesmaid!" Lucy joined in. "I'm obviously going to be the maid of honour!" Harley said. "Nuh uh! That's my spot!" Ari yelled at her. "Natsu can be the best man! And Gramps can do the ceremony!" Lucy said again.
I just lied my head on the table and Grey rubbed my back. They kept on talking about it and Grey laughed. I glared up at him.
"What?" He asked and I sighed. "Do we have to do this all over again?" I asked. "What?" "This is just like the time Lucy and Natsu would tease us about being a couple, before we were actually a couple." I sighed. "Aw, Hen, it's all in good fun." He said.
I cleared my throat and everyone looked to me. "So, Natsu, you never told me, did you use the condoms I gave you on Christmas?" I asked and both he and Lucy's faces turned bright red. "Taking that as a yes. So when's the wedding?" I asked and They both sputtered out words.
"There's not a... a wedding! That's crazy! Wha..." Lucy stopped when she saw me smiling sarcastically. "Oh..." She said and I nodded with a fake smile. "Doesn't feel too good, does it?" I grinned, downing my beer, then walking away to get a refill.
I slid it towards Mira, who took it to the tap. "So, I hate to ask, but can I be a bridesmaid?" She smiled and I sighed. "That's if there's going to be a wedding." I rolled my eyes, taking a sip of the beer she slid back to me. "What's wrong?" She asked and I sighed, sliding onto the bar stool.
"Well, Grey and I have been together four months now, right? It took me four fucking months to even say the words 'I love you' and now everyone's talking about a wedding? I mean, no one's even fucking proposed!" I groaned and drank more beer.
"Oh. I'm sorry." She said softly, and I looked up. "Sorry Mira, I just needed to vent. And believe me, if there was a wedding, you would most definitely be a bridesmaid, cos I need some good looking girls in my wedding." I said and she giggled.
I downed that beer and paid. "Where are you going?" Natsu asked as I walked past. "Home. Need to think." I hummed and slid on my jacket as I walked home.
It was sort of foggy that day, a little misty too. I put my hood over my head and kept my head down as I walked. Over the last few weeks, I've learned that people tend to stare at abnormalities.
When I got home, I curled up on the couch and stared at the wall. Just thinking to myself in silence.
I don't know what it is, but I just feel as if everyone else is living through our relationship. Maybe it's because we're so open about our relationship, we do tend to share a lot of details about it.
I put my head into the couch cushion and groaned, then stayed there the rest of the afternoon until Lucy and Ari came home with the others.
