Its my birthday, yay! Note the sarcasm. I groggily get up from my bed, I was late for school and I most definitely don't care. My mom didn't bother waking me up, I'm sure she already knows that I don't plan on attending classes or do anything today for that matter. I walk out of my room and into the kitchen to find my mom cooking.
"Morning Ma." I greet her.
"Good morning sweetheart. I'm making scrambled eggs and toast. Would you like some?" My mother asks me while softly pecking my cheeks.
"Yes please. I'm going to go freshen up real quick. Be right back." I tell her before heading out towards my room. A quick shower later, I walk inside my room, a towel wrapped securely over me. I rummage inside my closet, when I notice a flower print mini skirt and a cream white top along with a grey cardigan neatly laid out on my bed. With a smile I blow dry my hair deciding to leave it alone after running a comb through it before dressing up. I quickly make my way down towards the kitchen.
"Mom did you buy me this?" I ask her while striking a pose in the clothes.
"Why, of course I did. It is my only daughter's birthday after all. I had to get her something even if she doesn't want to celebrate it." My mom answers with a bright smile.
"Thank you. I love it." I admit, while hugging my mom and pecking her right cheek.
"Your always welcome. Now sit down and finish your breakfast." Mom orders and I obediently follow. "Okay I know what you're going to say but just hear me out. I think you should celebrate your birthday this year." She says handing me my breakfast.
"Ma, we have had this conversation before and I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell every year I don't want to." I tell her before stuffing my face with the delicious treat.
"But it's been so long since you last celebrated it? You can't tell me that you honestly don't want to?" Mom asks me.
"Ma, I really don't want to celebrate it. End of discussion." I tell her now getting irritated by her constant questioning.
"I just don't get it. Every individual wants to celebrate the day they were born, why not you? Is it because of your dad? Sweetie I've told you million times, it was not your fault. If your dad were here how do you think he would feel if he saw you like this?" My mom asks, her eyes brimming with unshed tears and sympathy while looking at me.
"Well he is not here now ." I tell her, I could feel the tears making their way into my eyes. The door bell rings saving the both of us from a crying session. "I'm going to get that." I say getting up and walking towards the door while wiping my eyes. I open it and find Anne standing with her fist raised, I look at her eyes pointedly.
"Sorry I was just about to knock." Anne apologises.
"Its okay. What are you doing here? Don't you have school?" I ask her.
"Yeah well, I'm here to kidnap you." Anne answers.
"You know if you're goal is to kidnap someone you don't actually tell them so beforehand. Do you expect them to be like, okay let me just grab my cellphone and let's be on our merry way?" I say rolling my eyes at her stupidity.
"Okay Ms. Sarcasm I get it. Now can you just come along." She grumbles while hooking her arm onto mine and starts dragging me away.
"Wait, Anne! My mom..." I start to complain when she shuts me up with a, "It's okay, she already knows."
"Okay that's not weird at all. Honestly what are you two plotting?" I ask as Anne pushes me inside the car. "And where the hell are you taking me?" I ask her when she gets in too.
