Divination

Next today was potions. I didn't mind potions that much because I liked the idea of mixing different things together to make something. It felt like baking or cooking to me, but instead of making a cake you could be making a potion to we'll say put someone unconscious or make them fall in love. When I arrived in professor slughorns classroom three cauldrons were lined up in front of us. Slughorn asked us to identify them and of course Hermione knew what they were straight away. I didn't listen to what she was saying because something else caught my eye. Draco was standing about two feet away from me and the sleeve of his robes had slipped up a little. There before my eyes on his arm I could see the dark mark. I could only see a small bit poking out under his sleeve but I could still see it. Draco Malfoy was a Deatheater. I wasn't sure how I felt about that. Slowly I edged my way over to him and put my hand on his arm. He looked at me and smiled. His smile melted my heart. I pulled down his sleeve so nobody else could see the dark mark. I was worried that he might get into trouble for it. I gave him a warning look.

"Miss Kelly, are you paying attention?" slughorn asked me.

"oh yes professor, of course" I replied. "then can you please identify what this little potion is here?" he pointed to a tiny phial of golden liquid in his hand. "Felix Felicis sir" I thanked my lucky stars that I had read about it during the summer. "yes that is correct Miss Kelly" he smiled at me and continued with the lesson.

"everybody go to your cauldrons and open the page about the draft of living death, you are each going to make some during the remainder of this class" we all got to work. Harry really looked as if he knew what he was doing. Hermione looked puzzled and frowned at Harry. I glanced at Ron and I was sure he was going to throw up. Draco put his cauldron next to mine. I smiled at him and continued to work. I thought about what I had seen on Draco's arm. It made sense as far as I knew his parents were Deatheaters. My parents weren't. If I ever asked my mother about Lord Voldemort she would tense up and my father would change the subject. I was puzzled about their behaviour. Was there something I didn't know?

Lunch came quite fast today and I must say I was grateful. I was starved. I sat down with Sylvia and Alicia and helped myself to spaghetti bolognese. I devoured a plate of it and then had a slice of garlic bread. "why is Draco gazing at you as if you are part veela?" Sylvia asked me "wait you're not are you?" she continued. "no I'm not" I replied "and I have no idea why Draco is staring at me" I finished my dinner and prepared myself for my next class...divination.

I didn't particularly like divination. In my opinion it was a waste of my time. Professor Trelawny had been reinstated since Dolores Umbridge had made her pack her bags last year. I climbed the ladder and shuffled towards a pouffe in the far corner of the room. Sylvia joined me and we resumed our gossip session from our last class here. Five minutes later Draco graced us with his presence. "sorry I'm late " he mumbled. My heart picked up speed. Professor Trelawny was oblivious to the whole scene and continued to stare into space while her class chattered amongst themselves.
