Reaping Day (Districts 1 to 4)

Crowds of people surrounded the stages in their districts, anxiously waiting for the Reaping to start.

They stared half-heartedly around, for this was not an event of celebration.

Two unlucky tributes would be called from each district, either mutant or human, to participate in the Hunger Games, where they will fight to the death.

But when the Games finally end, there would only be one survivor.

District 1

A male turtle mutant with heterochromic eyes waited silently in his age group. His right eye was green, while the other eye was red. He looked up to the stage, determined to not be called.

The scar over his right eye burned with pain, as if someone had set a fire to it. His mask tails whipped wildly in the wind.

Meanwhile, a girl with elemental powers waited patiently in her age group. She was very nervous, and couldn't help but make the atmosphere windier.

Nobody seemed to mind though, they were focused on the stage.

The girl wore thin rimmed glasses, and her long brown hair were brushed by the wind. She frowned, looking down at the ground.

Suddenly, a young boy stepped out from behind the curtains.

"Ahem." He cleared his throat. "H-hello, everyone! My name is Chris Jackelon," he paused, "a-and it's my duty to announce this year's tributes of the Hunger Games." His voice cracked at the end of his sentence.

Obviously, he didn't like being the one to choose the tributes for the Hunger Games, and neither did he like any part of it. But he suppressed an encouraging smile anyway.

Chris walked over to the big glass ball and dug his hand through the slips of paper. He retrieved two slips of paper and began reading them out.

"The first tribute for the 57th Hunger Games is Darkness."

The mutant turtle widened his heterochromic eyes slightly. The people around him all stared at him, and he calmly made his way over to the stage.

"And the next tribute is..." he continued, "Alexis Queen."

The girl with thin rimmed glasses stifled a gasp, then shakily made her way up to the stage, the whole district's gaze on her.

"The tributes of District 1 for the 57th Hunger Games are Darkness and Alexis Queen," he announced, putting both his hands on the backs of the tributes.

"Good luck, you two," he whispered, giving them a firm nod and a sad smile on his face. "May the odds be ever in your favor."

It seemed that the tributes had nodded back.

District 2

Shadow Dusk, a female snake mutant waited patiently for the Reaping to start. It was better if it started later, or hopefully never. But she knew that never would never happen.

Fiddling with the turquoise bandana around her neck, she let out an inward sigh. After all, she had survived until now, it couldn't be possible that the picked her now?

Nearby, an Italian Wall lizard mutant stood, waiting. Her curly black hair cascaded down her back. She rubbed her elbow nervously.

Penelope looked up and saw giant mutant dog that seemed to be made of bones. He walked up to the stage and stood in front of the microphone. Her green skin tingled with anxiety, and she prayed that it wouldn't choose her.

"Attention, citizens of District 2," he growled, his deep voice cold and harsh. "It is time that we announce the tributes of this year's Hunger Games." He paused and grinned, as if he had been waiting all his life for this. It seemed like he was enjoying this moment, taking pleasure in it.

"My name is Chris Bradford. Let us get started, shall we?" He dipped his hand--more like claw, into the glass bowl and gingerly pulled out two slips of paper. They were tiny, compared to the size of his paw.

At the corner of her eye, Shadow saw the female lizard mutant tense up in terror. She looked over to her, concerned.

"Shadow Dusk!" the bony dog boomed, and Shadow snapped her head over to the stage. The name sent chills up her spine, and the black mamba mutant froze in fear.

"Well, come up, we don't have all day here!" Bradford snapped, and Shadow slithered up to the stage obediently. A cry of grief sounded from the crowd, and she immediately knew that it was her mother.

"Shadow, no!" Shade Dusk, her brother cried out. Shadow gave him a light shake of her head as Bradford read the next name.

"Penelope Sharma!" he announced, and the Italian Wall lizard let out a gasp of horror. She made her way up to the stage and stood beside the escort.

"The tributes of District 2 for the 57th Hunger Games are Shadow Dusk and Penelope Sharma." His eyes seemed to glint with malice as he spoke. "May the odds be ever in your favor."

"For Shade," Shadow whispered, as Penelope stood on the other side quietly.

District 3

A tall turtle mutant played with his mask tails as he thought of various methods to survive the Hunger Games if he was Reaped. He wrote his final ideas onto his flow chart and hid it in his shell.

A cyborg with white hair and flashing blue eyes walked over to him. "You know that they'll take that away, don't you?"

"If I get picked, I can always try to memorize it on the train," Donatello said hopefully. As he spoke, the gap in his tooth showed.

Their conversation was interrupted as an African-American man walked onto the stage. His dark brown hair was in an Afro, and he wore oval-shaped glasses. He tapped the microphone to test it.

"Uh, hello! My name is Baxter Stockman, and I'm here to pick the tributes for District 3." He walked over quickly to the glass ball and slowly drifted his hand in. He grasped two pieces of paper and read them out.

"D-Donatello Bolts and S-Sarina Subject!" he announced without hesitation, although he stuttered. Donatello jumped a little as Sarina's eyes flashed with shock.

The two friends made their way to the stage.

"Donatello Bolts and Sarina Subject, the tributes from District 3 of the 57th Hunger Games! May the odds be ever in your favor!"

Looks like they'll be in the Hunger Games, after all.

District 4

Hazel Lewis was nervously talking to her best friend Timothy about the Reaping.

"What if I get Reaped?" Hazel fretted, pacing around. Her chocolate brown curls bounced around wildly as she took each step.

"It'll be alright," Timothy assured her. "You'll survive."

"Hello, everybody!" A magenta skinned fish mutant strolled onto the stage. He had a pair of metal legs around his waist and spoke with a Brazilian accent. "My name is Xever Montez, and I will be announcing the tributes of District 4." He grinned, his fangs sticking up from either side of his wide mouth.

He reached a hand with webbed fingers into the glass ball and pulled out a slip of paper.

"Colten Ridgeway!" he announced, and a male cyborg with dark hair and electric blue eyes stepped forward and headed to the podium.

Xever grasped another slip of paper and read it out loud. "And Hazel Lewis!" he called out.

Hazel jumped, stumbling and taking a step backwards. Timothy caught her and motioned for her to go up on the stage.

"That's it, my dear. There's no need to be shy," the fish mutant coaxed, but there was a tint of spite in his voice as Hazel made her way up.

"Excellent!" he exclaimed. "Presenting the tributes from District 4: Colten Ridgeway and Hazel Lewis. May the odds be ever in your favor!"
