Revenge is Definitely Not Sweet

Kat whipped around from her ally's corpse, her senses as sharp as ever. She felt invincible. She did not have time to think rationally. She had to get her revenge. She tightened her grip around the dagger that "S" had given her. She didn't know who "S" was, but she would be more than willing to fulfill his request.

Her steps quickened, slamming harder and harder into the artificial snow. She didn't care if her enemies knew she was coming. In fact, it was better if they knew.

The cat mutant sniffed the cold night air. She recognized the scent of the purple-masked turtle. He was near. So was the shape-shifting wolf girl.

A blood-curdling scream could be heard not far away, and so could a cannon boom not long after. Kat ran towards the sudden sound, her heartbeat roaring in her ears. As she saw the sight before her, she couldn't help but get even angrier.

Donatello and Destiny had ensnared the vampire bat mutant in their trap. Sythia was tangled in a thin, silver wire, as well as a dozen small blades embedded in her body that seemed to come in from all directions. Blood was still flowing out from all the fresh wounds that covered her body.

Kat gritted her teeth, immediately charging at the turtle from behind him. He seemed easier to beat. Destiny shouted a warning at the turtle, but before Donatello could react, the cat had lodged the dagger deeply into the center of his shell with fury-filled eyes.

The blood from his shell splattered against Kat's hands. The turtle's eyes widened and he spat out a mouthful of blood. The cannon boomed before his body even hit the floor.

Kat snapped back to her senses. The revolting smell of the liquid on her hands invaded her nostrils and made her feel nauseous. Her fur bristled with realization. She had just killed someone. Her eyes drifted back to the open wound and she bent over, retching.

She noticed the shadow of Destiny raising her machete over her head. Quickly, she rolled over and dodged the attack.

"Why you...!" the wolf growled.

There was only one thing for Kat to do. She ran. Destiny was at her heels, her machete flashing. Quickly, she swung the blade at the cat, injuring her arm and tackling her to the ground. The wolf girl put a hand around Kat's throat.

"You killed Donnie!" she cried.

"Well you killed my one and only friend in this whole mess, so I guess we're even!" Kat snapped. She reached up and clawed her across the face, giving her another set of scars. Destiny released her, holding her face. Kat held her bloody right arm.

They held their weapons up and faced each other, pain evident in both of their expressions. Before they charged at each other, a disdainful smirk could be heard.

"Pathetic. It seems that you two have forgotten who the real enemy is."

The voice came from a nearby tree. A pair of stark maroon eyes stared sternly at them, followed by a cold expression across her face. The raccoon mutant twirled her bloodstained axe at them.

"The Capitol," said Kat.

Alexandria ignored her. "Well, you can either die here doing what the Capitol wants you to do, or you can actually be a hero and shut this place down with me. Either way works." She shrugged. "If one of you dies here, the winner can face me. Then you can die and I can be the victor. Easy. Though I prefer you two fighting to the death."

The two glared at her.

"And how do you intend on shutting this place down?" Destiny challenged. "Do you have some sort of secret plan?"

"How about triggering the mountain of bombs that were secretly stored under the Cornucopia for emergency cases?"

"How did you find out about that?" Kat questioned.

Alexandria looked at them bluntly. "I'm a raccoon mutant. And what do raccoons do? They dig."

The cat narrowed her eyes at her. "Just because I'm teaming up with you just this once doesn't mean I trust you."

Leaving the other two behind, she made her way to the Cornucopia.

Destiny remained standing still as she gave Alexandria a piercing stare.

"You should be more like Kat. Simple and easy to compromise with," the raccoon girl remarked.

Not saying a word, Destiny brushed past the girl and followed Kat through the greenery.

"Lovely. Just as I thought," Alexandria purred. And off they went, trudging back to the place where it had all started.
