Caravina's steps were heavy as she walked through the broken city. Her stomach was growling, wanting another piece of bread. She reached her hand into her pocket. But to her luck, there was only one piece of bread left. She chewed it hungrily, savoring the taste as the last of it got devoured.

Her stomach ached with dissatisfaction. She sighed, searching for a source of water, or food. She didn't care what it was, she had to find something to eat or drink. At the corner of her eye, a scarlet gleam caught her attention.

Berries...bright red in color. They looked so delicious. They made Caravina's mouth water. She wanted to taste the sweet juice bursting from the tiny fruits. She wanted to satisfy her tastebuds.

The dragon mutant started to run over to the bush, but a thought struck her head. What if they were poisonous?

She frowned, stopping in her tracks and taking a few steps backwards.

A sudden beeping sound started ringing, and she looked up to the sky, hoping it was another sponsor. But unfortunately for the dragon mutant, she had just triggered a dangerous land mine.

Realizing what was going on, Caravina immediately took flight, just as the land mine exploded with a huge boom, emitting a cloud of smoke and orange flames from where it was planted.

The blast had caught her in the wing, as she did not escape far enough. It knocked her off course, sending her spiralling down to the ground.

She flapped her wings in panic, desperate to keep herself in the air. But with each beat of her wings, a jolt of pain coursed up her right wing, forcing her to fall to the ground with a hard thump.

Caravina looked back at her injured wing. It was broken and was bleeding, and she didn't have any supplies to stop the red liquid from flowing out. She quickly held her hand to the wound, but it didn't do her any good.

She felt around her leg, and it was broken too. She winced whenever she moved it, so she wasn't able to move away to find shelter.

Caravina sighed and accepted her fate, leaning back onto the ground and looking up into the clear, blue sky. She stared up into the clouds, imagining them to be different objects, a bunny, a mushroom, a duck...

She used to do this when she was younger. She had enjoyed doing this with Wesley and Rosanna. They would often exchange their thoughts on what the clouds looked like, but it was great fun.

Wesley and Rosanna weren't the type of family most would want, but they were the best family Caravina could ever have, even though they weren't related by blood.

The dragon mutant let the good memories wash over her. In such an arena like this, it was hard to enjoy the little things in life, although they were fake.

Remembering those little memories, they made her lips turn up into a small smile. Her breaths became slower and slower, and black spots danced before her eyes, due to her blood loss.

At least she would be with Wesley soon. Her best friend, he was such a gentle and loving mutant. She knew that he would never belong in this type of harsh environment, where people watch others dying for fun.

Caravina closed her eyes and allowed death to welcome her, acknowledging that it was her time to leave this world. It was followed by another cannon boom.
