Darkness watched as Alexis’ family burst through the door. Hugging her tightly, they had let a few tears of grief loose.

“Alexis...I’m sorry that you got Reaped. We never wanted this to happen,” her father murmured, releasing her from his embrace.

Her mother hugged her tightly, crying into her shoulder. Alexis embraced her back.

Alexis’ little sister tugged at her skirt, and Alexis kneeled down to reach her height. “Don’t go...please…” Her lip trembled as tears streamed from her eyes.

“I can’t promise that, I’m sorry,” Alexis whispered. “But I’ll try to win for you.”

Penelope sat cross-legged on the floor, frowning. Her two siblings burst into the room, hugging and crying with her at the same time.

"Please don't go," her younger sister, Claire, weeped.

"But I have to go," Penelope sighed, hugging her sister to her chest.

"Stay safe, Penny," her older brother, Ryan told her, his eyes starting to get watery.

"I will," she replied, and embraced him as well.

George, Penelope's father, wrapped his arms around her. Kissing her cheek, he gave her a sad smile. "Good luck, Penelope," he said, before hearing the Peacekeepers knock on the door. They led them out, closing the door behind them.

Shadow heard the door creak open a little, and she glanced towards the sound. Instantly, her older brother burst in, followed by her parents.

Shade tackled her into a hug, wrapping his arms around her waist tightly. He rested his head on her shoulder and let out a long sigh.

“Don’t die…” Shade murmured, his voice cracking as tears trickled down his cheeks. “Just do one thing for me. Keep this on no matter what. It is a reminder that I...we will always be there for you.”

“We’ll try to sponsor you every chance we get,” her mother assured her.

Shadow nodded, a stray tear slipping from her own eye.

Her parents embraced her with a hug before the Peacekeepers forced them out of the room.

“I’ll do this,” Shadow said determinedly, gritting her teeth. “I’ll win this for you.”

Sarina sat in a room, peeking through the window as she watched Donatello and his adoptive uncle and mentor Dr. Rockwell. They had sat down and talked, then the scientist gave Donatello a big hug.

She heard the door to the room open, and she turned towards the sound. Her father, Bishop, walked over to her and sat down beside her. “Hello, Sarina,” he greeted her.

“Hi, father,” she replied.

“Good luck in the Hunger Games. I really do hope you survive. I love you.” Bishop smiled lightly and embraced her in a hug.

“I love you too, father.”

“Hazel!” Her father called as he ran over to her. Wrapping her in a hug, he smiled warmly at her. “You can do this. Even though I can’t stop you from going to the Games, good luck. I love you, my dear.”

“I love you too, dad,” Hazel replied and reached down to scratch Winston’s ears.

The St. Bernard whimpered and nuzzled his face into her hand. She bent down and even before she could give the big dog a hug, Winston knocked her over, licking her face.

“Be a good boy, okay?” she whispered softly.

Colten turned away from the scene to see his little sister come into the room.

“Bella…” he started to say, but the little girl cut him off.

“Don’t go, Colten...please…” she whimpered and sobbed into his chest as Colten embraced her.

“Even if I don’t make it back, be good, okay? Stay strong, little sis,” he replied and stroked her head gently.

Ashton’s little sister burst through the door before he could react. His grandparents followed, concern shown in their facial expressions.

Alice wiped away a tear and quickly embraced Ashton. “I don’t want you to go,” she whimpered.

“I don’t want to go either,” Ashton replied softly, but on the inside, he still knew that he had to go. “Take care of grandma and grandpa, okay?”

Alice nodded, tears still running down her face.

“We love you, Ashton,” his grandmother said.

“And the best of luck in the Games,” his grandfather said.

“Thank you, grandma and grandpa. I’ll do my best,” he promised them.

Meanwhile, Caleb’s father burst into the room. “Caleb, my dear boy,” he murmured, hugging the teenager. “Good luck out there,” he whispered, and Caleb nodded.

"If I don't make it back, I'm sorry."

Kayla heard the door creek before running over and flinging it open. There, stood her aunt Kazuno.

“You can do this, honey. I know you can,” she encouraged.

The dragon mutant nodded. “I hate the Games,” she muttered.

“Believe me, I do too,” her aunt replied before wrapping her in a big hug.

Kazuno left the room with Kayla and went to the train.

Just as Kayla and her aunt left, Olivia rushed to her mother and her little brother the moment they stepped in.

“But I don’t want you to go!” Her little brother pouted.

“But I have to,” she sighed. “I don’t like this either.”

“Don’t die, okay?” he said.

“I’ll try not to,” she replied, pursing her lips.
