Colten walked up the rocky hills, his feet thumping heavily with each step. He was alone. No one was there to help him. Maybe he could make an ally on his way.
Kitty, the shifting cat girl looked quite nice. Allying with her wouldn't be such a bad choice. He hoped that she hadn't allied with anyone else yet.
Suddenly someone burst out of the bushes. Right away, Colten got into a defensive position, wielding his sword. The tip of the blade touched his opponent's neck.
But it was Kitty, the girl he was just thinking about. She quickly scrambled back and stared up at him with big eyes, her whole body shaking with fear.
"Do not be afraid. I am not here to hurt you. I was thinking if we could ally," the cyborg offered, putting his sword away. The cat girl nodded, still unable to speak from fear.
"T-There was a f-f-fire..." she stammered out.
Colten nodded. "I have noticed. Let us leave. You will be safe with me now."
Kitty shivered and huddled close to him, then continued walking on with the cyborg.
They soon arrived at the base of a mountain. They took out the things that they had kept for their survival. Kitty took out a box of matches, an apple, and a spile.
"The forest fire split Kat and I up. We divided our supplies before leaving. She took the medicine and the rest of the apples, and I got these," the cat mutant explained. "I wonder how she'll survive without water."
"I'm sure she'll be fine," Colten replied.
There was an almost comfortable silence between them.
"I'm scared," Kitty said in a small voice, "I'm afraid about what would happen in the Games...how we'll all die...because we're going to eventually, right...?" She started mumbling about to herself.
"We're going to be fine. We'll get through this together. I hope," Colten whispered, but he knew that it might not be true.

Kat stomped through the hiemal environment, her throat dry. Whenever she took a breath, it screamed of thirst. Everything she did, or tried to do, her body burned with pain.
Whoever had set that fire...she was going to give them a piece of her mind! Not only did someone die, or did she lose her teammate, but now, she hadn't even had the chance of surviving!
She grumbled as her feet moved through the cold snow. She should have taken that spile when they had split up! She should have taken more! She should have...
Her thoughts were interrupted when a battle cry rang through the air. She recognized that voice. It was so familiar...
The sound of bones cracking emitted from the person behind her, and she jumped forward. Kat whipped around. A certain snake mutant had Kayla in a headlock. Kat backed away as she continued to choke the dragon mutant, refusing her to even let her take a breath as she thrashed around wildly. She squeezed tighter and tighter, the girl's face turning purple.
At last, the cannon sounded and the dragon mutant fell limp. Kat watched Shadow with wide eyes, wondering if she was going to get killed next.
"She was about to kill you!" she exclaimed. "You have to be more careful about your surroundings!" she scolded.
"W-why did you s-spare m-me?" Kat croaked, her voice hoarse. A fiery burn spreading throughout her throat. Right away, the snake mutant handed a canteen full of water to her. The cat mutant took a drink, relieved at the sight.
"Well, you haven't forgotten about our alliance, have you? I'm sorry I hadn't remembered about the automatic alliance between Districts 1, 2, and 4."
Kat nodded. "It's okay. We all forget every once in a while."

Donatello lay on the grassy ground, wondering why he wasn't dead yet. Some parts of his body were patched up with leaves. He stared at them, confused.
Nearby, he heard water swishing. He was near a pond. But then he remembered. He was in a forest fire. Him, Leonardo and Destiny were running away...and he was at the back.
He remembered that snake mutant throwing a lit match at Darkness...then the flames spread. On and on, catching onto everything in it's path. It went from such a small spark, then it grew, bigger and bigger, until it was powerful and unstoppable, like a deadly virus.
He remembered that he was fighting for his life, although he was at the verge of dying: the flames catching onto his mask tails, the cloth wrapped around his wrists and feet.
He remembered the excruciating burn as pain coursed up his body, thinking it was the end for him...until someone pulled him out of the blazing inferno. Then he collapsed on the ground, the world going black. Into unconsciousness.
But who was it who saved him? And there it was, he heard it again: the trickle of water. He turned his head towards the sound, although his whole body ached at the slight movement.
A frizzy haired girl was sitting by the pond, washing a piece of cloth. She got up, walking back to him. Donatello looked at her, puzzled. Was she the one who saved him?
"Oh, you're awake," the copper-skinned girl realized. "You probably wouldn't know me. My name is Hazel," she introduced.
"I-I'm Donatello," he replied. "W-what happened?"
"You were in a fire," she replied, her striking green gaze cast over to the trees. "You've got several burns on your skin and shell. The ones on your shell should be fine...but the ones on your skin are worse. You should be fine, though," Hazel told him.
"Thank you..." Donatello murmured, "for taking care of me."
"You're very welcome," the girl replied.
"I guess we're allied, then?" the purple-masked turtle raised an eye ridge.
"If you want."
"We're allied, then."
