Chapter 21:

MARCH 15, 2017

Angelique's lips taste like peppermint.

Videl holds her close to him in the dark bedroom Angelique shares with Natasha. It's warm in here, and not just because of the heater spewing warm air from the vents. Angelique's legs are around his waist, his lips moving from hers to her neck. His movements are gentle yet tinged with the wildness he will always possess. He feels the fabric of her jeans against his legs and the silkiness of her shirt on his bare chest. Her uneven breath on his skin makes his own skin tingle, and when she pecks him on the side of the throat, he hisses softly through his teeth, his tongue rubbing against the sharp points of his fangs.

Finally, with a reluctant sigh, Videl pulls away from her, and she lies back on the bed. He leans over her, his arms on either side of her body, then kisses her quickly yet passionately one more time.

"Why'd you stop?" she asks curiously, tying her hair up in a ponytail. Her lips are slightly inflamed from all the kissing.

Videl, now leaning against the headboard, tilts his head. A second later, the door is thrown open and the silhouette of Jack is clearly visible in the entryway. He's holding Victoire, resting the two year old on his hip.

He squints suspiciously while Angelique smiles knowingly at Videl. "Were you two snogging?"

"Does it matter?" asks Videl.

"Think of Vicky," says Jack, bouncing her up and down. She giggles and pokes his cheek. "Don't scar the eyes of the little darling. And don't scar my beautiful eyes either, for that matter." He pauses. "And put on a bloody shirt, mate."

"We have to put up with you when you're snogging Thea," says Videl, reaching over to the nightstand and pulling on the green shirt Angelique had peeled off his chest. He also puts on his fedora. "At least I had the courtesy to stop the kissing before you walked in the room."

"Well not all of us are blessed with sonic hearing," points out Jack. He sets Victoire on the ground, and the little girl goes running over to the bed.

Videl prepares himself and sure enough, Victoire practically tackles him- well more accurately, she tackles his arm. While she rolls around on the mattress and while Videl tries to shake her off his bicep, he asks, "What do you want anyway?"

"Actually, Kyle sent me. He was wondering when you and the twins are leaving, in case you wanted dinner."

"We're leaving now," says Videl. "Which is why I was trying to spend some quality time with my girlfriend and –Victoire, let go."

His niece lets out a peal of laughter, but refuses to release him. Videl begins trying to pry her tiny fingers off him, and when she nips at his own fingers, he raises his voice. "Hey! Victoire, what have I told you a hundred thousand times about biting people?"

"Don't go to 'Giza," she says, shaking her head. But she does look slightly meeker, and lets go of his pointer finger.

"Heard anything from Thea?" asks Videl. He temporarily gives up trying to unsuction Victoire- he figures he won't get her off him unless he uses a crowbar.
