Phew. This one was a long one.

It's also one of my favorite chapters I've written for Revenge. Curious to see what you think :)

Well, time to try and catch up on The Walking Dead, because apparently, according to Haley_Ferland, I've watched Only Lovers Left Alive only about a hundred times too much.

Chapter 19:

Two days later, Thea wakes up early to Klaka nudging her with his wet nose. She yawns and stretches, blinking open her tired eyes to the not-quite risen sun.

She bathes, then hurries out of the washroom, wearing a towel around her still-dripping body. While Klaka gnaws on the Kong toy she'd brought with her from Earth (apparently, Asgardian wolves like peanut butter just as any labrador), Thea quickly changes into her light armor.

It had taken a while for the leather cutters to finally design an appropriate set of armor for her. Thea is slight, but her armor must be flexible, not too heavy, and parts of it impermeable to her fire. Eventually, after a lot of measurement and impatience on Thea's part, it had been decided to outfit Thea in a tunic of light green that covered her arms in silky, flame-resistant material.

Over her chest is a mahogany colored bodice of leather covering, which is made to fit around her body looser than a corset but tighter than steel armor. The bodice is shaped like an extremely tank top over the green tunic, and has brass buckles and straps over her shoulders and across her stomach.

Her belt, also leather, is made up of a rectangular satchel over her left hip, in which she uses to store supplies. On her right hip are her sheathed weapons: her long silver knife and emerald dagger. A swath of green and gold fabric flows to right over her thighs and down behind her knees to give her armor a more feminine look.

Her trousers are made up of tightly sewn leather and other sturdy fabric, laced together at the sides in a corset-like way. She wears high-buckled boots that go above her knees, made up with fabric as thick as possible so she can run over uneven surfaces. She wears brown leather gloves, fireproof, designed partially by Loki, partially by Tony.

Today, a chill cuts to her skin even through the leather, and she finds her dark fur hanging over a chair. She fastens it onto the shoulder straps attached to the bodice, sheathes her emerald dagger, and then walks to her antique dresser.

There are two letters waiting for her, brought by Wairua while she'd been in the bath. While Wairua hoots and fluffs his feathers beside her, she sits down and unfolds the first piece of paper.

Thea,

I'm going back to Ardhigiza today, but I thought I might as well send you a note before Wairua and I took off. Considering you're about to try and win over your people's approval, and I'm still working on it, let me give you some advice about getting people to cheer for you from someone who actually doesn't know what the hell I'm doing.

Don't be a suck-up. Because you are the least sucking-up person I have probably ever met in my entire life. Which is great at times, but then when you want something, you're crap at getting it by asking nicely. Point is, be yourself. Don't be someone who kisses up to children to make everyone else go gaga over you. It's extremely cliched.
