*Ignore that ugly face of mine.*

My friends, a chapter has been posted! Huzzah!!!

So, counting this one, there are only 20 chapters left of Revenge. To celebrate, I'll be making a video diary each time I post. This one is long (13 minutes), but that's because I had blissful time tonight. Most will only be 5 minutes.

For tomorrow's (hopefully) video, I'm answering questions. I know I've done that a couple times, but it's so fun. So have your questions coming either these comments or on the ones on Youtube. Any questions will do. Unless they're inappropriate. So yeah, ask anything. Absolutely anything. And as much as you want to ask, I'll answer. And if nobody asks anything, I'll just stare at the computer screen for 5 minutes.

PS: I'm starting the end-of-series-video soon. Prepare for feels. And remember to send me your videos or your art or your words.

Hopefully you won't laugh at the video too much. It's my first time with this sort of thing.  And I look awful because I ran out of makeup and I just came back from school. Yay school. Nah. And I recommend you watch it, because you'll learn about something that might ease your mind.

Dedicated to RickyPine because the poem he wrote about Blue Moon almost made me cry. Love ya, bud!

Chapter 39: The Flames' Fingers

Loki had been right: Neidra attacks from the southwest. By the time Loki thunders down the path on Banamadr, the Velah are already in motion, charging at Neidra's soldiers with their fangs bared. Loki doesn't see Videl, but suspects he is either near the front or the rear of his people, urging them on.

The force Neidra had brought is formidable considering the nature of a quick raid. There are mostly foot soldiers with swords and crossbows, but near the back of the formation, Loki spots several black coaches pulled by strong, fast Asgardian horses. He imagines that the purpose of the closed coaches is to carry stolen supplies- or people- back to Neidra's camp.

If Jack's information is right, if Neidra's purpose is to kill and steal, then she has chosen a good night for it. Clouds skirt across the sky like the fingers of ghosts, covering the moon and painting the forests and plains with darkness.

Loki turns Banamadr and points his troops toward an unblocked portion of Neidra's soldiers. He doesn't see their leader and doubts Neidra will be making an appearance, but wonders who her pawn of the night is.

Thundering through and around his thoughts of war and soldiery are the concerns for his daughter. Knowing that Thea is out there in the forests, running away from the throngs of murderous men and women makes his blood run hot than cold. He is already responsible for the lives of so many: to not even have the shelter of responsibility for Thea's is more terrifying than the combined effort of leading his entire troop of soldiers.

As Loki strikes at one of Neidra's soldiers with his long rapier, he sees Saldra's men and women pouring over from the east, meeting the intruders like a sandwich, with the Velah straight in the middle. Looking back at Fletohein, he sees the dim shadowed shapes of Marjoy and her archers hidden in the brush. Somewhere over there is Eala. Loki remembers the unyielding trust and peace in her blue eyes gazing up at him, and the thought calms his anxiety, at least for a little while.

The soldiers near the front are not hard to cut down; clearly, Neidra had not sent her most skilled fighters, not having expected to meet such a resistance. Loki can see the surprise in the intruder's eyes. They evidently had not been ready for a defensive attack either.
