WHO'S READY FOR ANOTHER EMOTIONAL FLASHBACK!!?

So... Blue Moon made it on Buzzfeed. That totally made my day. I couldn't actually believe my eyes. Or the tons of new people reading it. YAY! New people to the Blue Moon  family! (And SUPER big thanks to Sydney Brown, whoever you may be, because you're the reason it got on the article)

I would like to take this time to shout out Little_Red_101 . She is raising money for leukemia in Australia. (*waves to the Aussies and the kangaroos and the Tasmanian devils*). If you can, donate as much or as little as you want. A dollar makes a difference! The link is in my bio. And message her with any questions!

Lovely shout-out to those who've sent me art or words about Blue Moon for the end-of-series (eek) video. Keep them coming! This has been your journey too !

I think that's it.

Enjoy this!

Part Four: Fool's Prayer

When midnight chimes on October 13, 2000, Erik is drunk and Annabelle is crying.

Technically, it begins on October 12. Annabelle is on the phone that afternoon, talking to her co-worker Stacey, when she feels a fluid between her legs.

Over the ninth months, Annabelle has never gotten used to the life inside her. Even by normal standards, the pregnancy is difficult. Annabelle is sick almost every day, and scarcely eats. At one point, Erik rushes her to the emergency room to get her an IV injection for the nutrients she is lacking.

But in the car, Erik makes it very clear that he is not driving for the little girl in Annabelle's womb.

"That is not my daughter," he says, speeding through the high-traffic traffic. "I'm doing this for you."

Because through it all, Erik claims he still loves Annabelle. Annabelle isn't so sure that's true.

On the afternoon of October 12, after Annabelle hastily hangs up with Stacey, then calls Erik at the office. "I'm going into labor," she says as soon as he answers.

Silence.

"Erik?"

"I'm on my way."

He hangs up.

Annabelle, fighting to keep calm, slides her phone in the purse on the cluttered kitchen counter before sliding into a chair, gritting her teeth at the discomfort of the contractions.

Her husband is there in ten minutes, and she gets into the car without a word. He doesn't say anything either, barely anything at all during the entire drive. Les Coeurs Immortels Hospital is only fifteen minutes from their apartment, but with traffic, the journey is longer, made more tense with Annabelle's heavy breathing and Erik's white knuckles.

The hospital isn't busy considering it's a metro facility in the middle of the afternoon. A nurse rolls out a wheelchair, which Annabelle collapses in gratefully.

But her relief is short-lived. When she sees Erik walking back to the SUV, a hole in her heart begins to expand. "Where are you going?"

"I told you," he says. "That's not my daughter."

The slamming of the car door echoes the bang of bitterness and loneliness filling up that hole in Annabelle's heart.

Later, she refuses any painkillers. Let this be my punishment, she thinks to herself. Let this be my punishment for what I did to Erik, for what I did to this family. And so she cries alone, she grasps the rail of the hospital bed alone, she screams alone with nothing but the steady beat of the two hearts inside her to keep her alive and going. And while she does all that, Erik Fossil goes to a bar and gets drunk before the sun sets.
