Synopsis: The reader was selected to be at the annual Hunger Games and meets Jared.

Y/N

Cannon sounds were heard throughout the whole arena, one for each death. Looking up I saw the faces of those who lost their lives this day. I was hiding inside a tree that helped me camouflage from the people trying to kill me at night. I laid my head back in the tree trunk, closing my eyes and relaxing for once.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of leaves rustling, as if someone was walking on top of them trying to be as quiet as possible. My eyes opened widely at that, I looked at my right and grabbed my bow, already putting an arrow in the elastic string. I stood up quietly, walking out of what I could call my shelter for the next few days.

My eyes caught the sight of a boy, around my age. Swiftly, I pointed the arrow at his glabella (the area between the eyes) and said: "I wouldn't move if I were you."

"I'm not here to hurt you." said the stranger.

"How can I trust you." I said, not lowering the bow.

"You're Y/N right. District 4? I'm Jared, District 2"

"How do you know my name. Why are you here?"

"I saw you at the interview. I know you won't shoot me" he said with a smirk.

"How are you so sure? I'm this close to wiping that smirk out of your face."

"Cause you would've done it already. Lower your bow, I want to talk."

"What makes you think I want to talk to you." I replied, still not lowering the bow.

"I want to be your ally. I saw you at the training room, you're good. But you need someone at your side if you want to survive, and you know it. I'm your best choice."

"Fine, but if we're going to win this thing, we must establish some rules and fix some things. Starting by your stuck up, arrogant attitude."

With that said, we both entered my hideout and began quietly discussing how to get rid of our opponents.
