There was nothing that could stop the tears from flowing down my face. Hearing bomb after bomb exploding made my heart thump even faster. Something I never knew was possible.

I heard the door to my room opening and my mom frantically screaming. Whimpering, I stood up and ran towards her where she captured me in a warm hug.

We made our way downstairs as fast as possible where we met my dad and older brother. Running, we exited the house and went to the small underground shelter we had for moments like this.

Trying to avoid the bullets coming from the helicopters above of us, I tripped.

I tried to stand up but my legs were too weak, I was scared for my life. I felt some arms beneath my body, wrapping tightly around my body and then I was lifted from the floor.

I looked up and saw the brown eyes of my brother. His eyes showed bravery, courage, fearlessness, something I never and never will have.

He began running back towards the refuge where my parents where waiting with a frightened look on their faces.

Black spots started to fill my vision. My head began aching; I felt light headed. I sensed my body touch something soft and then the black spots turned into one big stain.

I woke up to people talking loudly. Last night was more than a nightmare, explosions and bullets affecting not only my family, but everyone else's.

"Hey honey." I heard the sweet voice of my mom. My eyes focused on her blurry figure.

"Listen, you dad and I already packed everything."

"Packed? What for? Where are we going?" I asked hesitantly.

"You and your brother are leaving this country, you'll be traveling to Mrs. Rutter's house back in Canada."

"What about you guys? We can't just leave you here!"

"Only kids are allowed to leave, I promise we'll be safe. Now, stand up and meet us at the door." I did as she said.

Going down the stairs was a hard task, my legs still tired. Once I reached the front door, I observed two bags lying next to the table. I suddenly felt some big arms wrapped around my tiny waist.

"Hey sis, how are you feeling?"

"Better now. Thank you for what you did yesterday."

"It's okay, couldn't just leave you there." he chuckled.

I really admire my brother in all ways. He's always been my inspiration and I always looked up to him.

"You guys ready?" my dad asked.

After saying "yes" we grabbed our bags and left. My dad on the driver's seat and my mom on the passenger's, leaving us on the back seat.
