Synopsis: The reader likes Jared but he's in love with her best friend.

Y/N

Jared and I have been best friends ever since he stumbled upon the garden in my house. Still to this day, I remember how we met. He was playing football (A/N: or soccer, whichever you prefer.) with one of his friends and I was watering the flowers with my sister. I don't remember much, but I do remember a ball hitting me on the face. He then came into our backyard and apologized while I was crying non stop. He still makes fun of me for that.

I was walking out of homeroom with Jared by my side. That was until I was stopped by something he said.

"Hey umm, you know Bailey right?" he asked while putting his hand in the back of his neck, something he does when he's nervous.

"Yeah, what about her." Bailey, I consider her as my sister. We met 5 years ago and instantly connected. Two years later, I presented her to Jared. They know each other, but they're not too close.

"I might have developped a crush on her for the past years and wa-"

At the mention of the word "crush" I stopped walking and zoned out. My heart crushed into tiny pieces. Knowing Jared for basically my whole life, it's impossible not to develop more than a crush on him.

"Y/N are you even listening to me?"

"Sorry what did you say?" I said quietly.

"I need your help to ask her out on a date." he replied with a big grin on his face.

"Okay." I agreed, after all he is still my friend and I would do aything to see him happy.

A few minutes later, we had the date planned. It was just up for him to ask the question.

It's been three days. Jared asked her out and she said yes. Today is Friday, and their date is tonight. I was at Bailey's house helping her get ready.

"How do I look?" she asked.

"You look great." I said with a fake smile.

She was wearing a black shirt with white ripped jeans. I did her hair in a perfect messy braid. We heard the doorbell. She quickly grabbed her shoes and bag an walked out, not before givving me a quick thanks and a hug.

After they left, I went back to my house. In the middle of the walk back, I changed my mind and began walking towards the cafe just around the corner.

Turning my head towards the right, I saw Jared and Bailey holding hands, sitting under a tree on top of a blanket.

Without realising a tear ran down my cheek, I quickly wiped it. The fact that I will never be able to experience that makes my heart crumble into little tiny pieces.

Forgetting about the cafe, I turned around and began running back to my house with tears streaming down my face.
