Synopsis: The reader gets diagnosed with cancer.
Y/N
I was awoken by an extreme pain going through chest. It felt as if I had a million needles inside my body. The agonizing pain never ceased until about ten minutes later. Relieved, I lowered my head back into the pillow. I closed my eyes and just when I was about to to fall back into a deep sleep, the pain came back, but this time it was worse. It began like the first time, feeling like needles attacked me, but then it got worse. I wasn't able to breathe anymore, it felt like I was drowning.
I don't remember anything that happened after that, except for the fact that my parents came to my room with a horrified face. I only remembered being carried, and then everything went black.
Third Person's POV:
After driving as fast as they could, they arrived to the hospital. Y/N's dad took out a passed out girl out of his car and ran inside the enormous building. Her mom, worried about her daughter's health, began screaming: "Someone please help my daughter!" Doctors came rushing and took Y/N out of her dad's hands. They placed her into stretcher and took her into the emergency room, fast.
Y/N's parents could only pray and comfort each other. Who knew what happened to her, it could be her last moment on Earth, her last breath. Y/N's mom then realized that she had to call Y/N's boyfriend's mom, Emma.
Henry's POV: (Sorry about the constant change)
I was at grandma's place for the night. We were just talking while grandma was taking care of baby Neal. Suddenly, my mom got a phone call.
"Hello?" she said.
"How are-" she was interrupted.
"Wait what. Oh God, we'll be there as fast as we can." she then said with a terrified look in her face.
"Emma? What's wrong?" asked grandpa.
After she didn't answer I asked: "Mom?"
"No time for questions, we have to go." she exclaimed.
We all followed Emma to the front door, where we grabbed our coats and then left the small apartment. After leaving the building, we got into Emma's car and she began driving.
"Mom, where are we going? What's happening?"
"The hospital kid. It's about Y/N."
At the mention of her name I was scared for my life. Why would Y/N be in the hopital at 10 PM?
We soon arrived and I was the first one to leave the car. I quickly climbed the few steps and finally entered the hospital. Just as I was about to ask the receptionist for Y/N's room, I saw her family sitting on the waiting chairs.
I walked up to them, and suddenly was embraced in a hug by Y/N's mother.
"Henry! Thank goodness you're here!"
"What occurred Mrs. Y/L/N?"
They explained me the situation, how they were awoken by the sounds of Y/N's screams. How they saw her unable to breathe. How they carried her here and she is now inside the emergency room.
After about 3 hours of sitting in the uncomfortable chairs, we hear Y/N's name being called. We all stood up and the doctor went towards Y/N's parents.
"Mr. and Mrs. Y/L/N, after running some tests on your daughter, we realized that she developed lung cancer. What prevent her from breathing was the fluids that accumulated inside her lungs, fortunately you brought her here before it got worse and we were able to take the fluids out of her lungs."
My heart shattered at what the doctor said. Lung cancer. I felt mom embrace me into a hug, I felt weak, fragil. If my mom wasn't there, embracing me in her arms, I would've fallen to the ground.
Y/N's mom was sobbing in her husband's chest. The view crushed my heart. I was devastated, but I couldn't imagine the pain her parents where going through.
"You may go in and visit now." the doctor said before walking away.
Five minutes later, her parents came back and said: "She's asking for you, Henry."
I weakly smiled and walked up to the door. Grabbing the handle, I was scared to death. I was scared of what my eyes would witness. I built up the courage and walked in.
Y/N was lying down in the bed, when she saw me she tried to sit up but then stopped when she felt pain.
"Hey." she said with a tiny smile forming in her face.
"Just hey? You scared the crap out of me!" she giggled at this.
"I didn't mean to."
"How are you feeling?" I asked when I sat down in the chair next to her bed.
"Like a bus ran me over fifty times."
"Henry -" she began before I stopped her.
"No Y/N stop. I know what you're going to say and I don't want to hear it."
"Listen to me." and I did, I listened to what she had to tell me.
"One day I won't be here anymore, and I don't want you to stay attached to me, I want you to move on once I'm gone."
"You know I can't do that. I can't just forget you!"
"You won't forget me, you'll just move on from me. Promise me Henry. Promise me."
Who was I to deny one of her last wishes?
"I promise." I said truthfully.
"I love you."
Even now, after dating for three years, those words make me feel things I've never felt before.
"I will always love you, till death do us apart."
And with those words, I kissed her soft, pink lips.
