Taylor's POV"Come here Fin," I said cooing him to come to me so we can leave to get to the stadium early. He crawls over. And I pick him up, then grabbed my purse off the bed.
Security has the car seat and the diaper bag is still in the car. I brought one of those things where you strap the baby to your chest, so I put Fin in that, and left.
We walked out the door to the wild fans and paparazzi. The band loaded up early in the car before I came out. Smart people.
"Hi, Paula," I say when I enter my dressing room with Fin in my arms half-asleep.
"Hi, Taylor, How's the little one?" She asks.
"Good, sleeping," I say.
"Ok, well Ellen's gonna be here in an hour," She says before walking out, now it's just me and Fin. I sit on the couch while he stays asleep in the car seat. I scroll through Twitter and Instagram. Me, being me, I start watching short clips of cats doing funny things. There's this one on YouTube called "Cats v.s. Babies" which is hilarious.
I'm caught in the action laughing when Finley wakes up, he just says Mama over and over again. I smile down at him putting my phone away.
I laid out a blanket different from his baby blanket. And set him on it. He sat up and say there repeatedly shakes the fake plastic keys. He smiles as it makes noises. I laugh a little, smilingly as he rattles the keys. I hear a faint but loud "Taylor!" Well that means Ellen's here.
I wait until she knock on my door repeatedly in rhythm. I get up and open in to let her in.
"Hi," I say.
"Hi! How are you?" She says,
"I'm good," I say stepping back.
"I'm coming in." I step back at quickly glance at Finley. Then back to her.
"This is the dress room," I tell her.
"It's a little chilly in here, because that's not good," Ellen says.
"Okay," I answer unsure of what exactly she means. She looks around the room a bit.
"How about we warmup?" She says leading me the middle of the room.
"Me, me, me, me, me," She sings gradually getting higher. I repeat what she had sung, then she noticed that Fin was in the room still playing with those dang keys.
"You, you, you, you, you" she sings going higher then dropping a bit. I repeat back.
"Them, them, them, them, them," she sings. Again I repeat; "zo, zo, zo, zo, zo," she sings and nods a simple he sat me as I finish.
"Thank you you're a great teacher," I say sarcastically because she pretends to hack up something. I look at Fin smile a bit at her overdramatised performance. The camera cuts for a bit and we just talk normally.
"Who's the little boy," Ellen asks.
"My son," I say waking over and picking him up. He happily shakes the plastic keys.
"Oh, I didn't know you had a son," Ellen says.
"Yup, I've had him for 9 months. I got him when he was only 3," I say.
"What's his name?" She asks.
"Finley or Fin as I call him," I say proudly.
"That's cute, how did you meet?" She asks.
"At a park," I say in a simple answer.
"You didn't pick him up in a white van filled with candy?" Ellen says laughing a little. I shake my head with the "what? What are you thinking" look.
The cameras come back and so does a ice sculpture of a swan. For some reason Ellen made me put a scarf on my neck tighter that it's normally worn.
We go to sound check and she scares me again. She decides to play the cymbals while I sing my cover of the Jason Mraz song, "Yours."
Next she does a quiet, no joke, sit down interview. Not like we usually do.
When she asks me who I last kissed. I answer, "Fin." She gives me a strange look but then remembers and nods.
When I ask her, "what's your favorite fish?" She gets up and leaves the interview.
We spend the day with Finley. I get him to try to say Liz. It sounds so cute. He says it like "wiz." I think its hilarious along with Caitlin. For Caitlin, Fin sounds it out like "Cai" that's all he can do. So far. We are still working but making progress.
Ellen left and came back before the show. I let her come in during Mean. She played her triangle. It sounded amazing, notice my half sarcasm and half just proud she can play and instrument.
We went back the bus and fell asleep on them instead of getting hotels that night. I mean as much as I love hotels I can't sleep in them forever. Fin did fall asleep fast, which was good. He played a lot today.
