"Alright, I see we have some new faces! Hello and welcome to Bo Martial Arts or B.M.A. I'm Antonio the owner and instructor. I'm glad you could all make it this morning. Beside me is my co-instructor Michael. We like to start our day with a 5k run, so let's get started!" I pulled up the hood to my jacket and began to jog out of the dojo with Michael on my heels.

"Just more women to gawk at your ass huh?" He laughed keeping pace with me.

"Should we make them work for it?"

"Let's."

Michael and I started running full speed. It was 4am so no traffic to get in our way. I glanced behind me and saw that our followers were way behind. "Let's slow it down a little."

Michael grunted in response but slowed his pace to a steady jog. We were at the halfway marker when I felt my phone buzzing. I stopped and walked over to the side.

"Ciao," I said putting the phone up to my ear.

"Antonio, something has come up, and my family needs me right now. I don't think I'll be able to look over the office, so I was thinking maybe you'd like to get a head start?"

"What happened?" The group began to surround me, and I walked away motioning for them to stay.

Shannon seemed to be having a hard time saying what was wrong. I could her his voice trembling as he responded, "Gunnar is in a coma."

"What? How?"

"Some kids attacked him while playing rugby."

"What room is he in?"

"406."

"See you in 10 minutes." I hung up the phone and turned to Michael. "Shannon's son is in a coma. I have to be there for him."

Michael nodded and took over the class. I ran back to B.M.A to get my car. I did a lot of speeding, and thank god there were no cops around because I was doing about 90 and made it in a little less than 5 minutes.

I got out of the car and ran to the nearest elevator pressing the button for the 4th floor. I probably could have ran up the stairs faster than this elevator was moving.

It stopped on the second floor where a nurse got in and pressed the 5th floor. I couldn't help but notice her stare.

"Hi," I said bringing the attention to my face.

"Hi. You are really fit."

I smiled at her. Why isn't this elevator moving, I thought. Suddenly it started to go back down. A doctor stepped inside and nodded to the nurse.

"Cover up kid," he said when he saw me.

I quickly zipped up my jacket hiding my bare torso, but that didn't stop the nurse from staring. Finally we were going back up and stopped at the 4th floor. I quickly left the elevator and looked for room 406 which was a few doors away. I knocked on the door waiting for someone to open it.

When it did I was greeted by the pink haired girl I had met at the ball. She stepped aside allowing me in. His room was full of flowers and balloons wishing him well. I suddenly felt bad because I didn't stop to get him anything.

"Thanks for coming," Shannon said standing up and hugging me.

"You're my friend. I'll do whatever I can."

Shannon looked over to the bed. Not at his son, but at his girlfriend that had her head resting in her son's lap. I looked back at Shannon, and he seemed to be more worried about her than Gunnar.

"Jen is there anything I can do?" I asked approaching her. She shook her head not even turning to look at me.

Shannon pulled me away from the bed pain stricken. "I can't get her to eat. She barely sleeps, and after her escapade at the school she won't leave his side. I don't know what to do Toni," he whispered looking back at Jen. "At this rate her heart is going to give out."

She did seem very ill. I could see her bones protruding from her back and and from what skin I could see, she looked very pale. "Have you talked to a doctor?"

"She won't let him touch her. Not even to check her vitals."

"Il mio bel fiore, I have a proposition for you," I said walking up to Jen. She didn't respond. "When Gunnar wakes up-"

"If he wakes up. The principal's monstrosity of a son tried to kill him! I'm not leaving his side and that's final."

"Bel fiore, you've got it all wrong. When he comes out of this, and he will he's going to need your strength. You're going to have to be his roccia, his rock. You can't let yourself get like this because when he wakes up, you're going to have to take care of him, and you can't do that if you're too sick to move."

She slowly lifted her head and looked at me. She had dark rings around her eyes and her cheeks began to look sunken in. She looked down at Gunnar before trying to stand. She wobbled slightly reached for me to steady herself.

Shannon walked to her and wrapped his arms around her waist to keep her steady. "Thank you," he mouthed before guiding Jen toward the door.

"Feo and I will look after him, I promise, and I'll call if anything changes." Jen looked at her son one more time before the door shut.

I sat down where Jen had been sitting and took Gunnar's hand and held my thumb lightly over his pulse. "Come on, Gunnar. Your parents are hopeless without you. They need you."

To my surprise his pulse quickened slightly. "Wake up. For your mother." I squeezed his hand slightly before joining Feo on the couch. She looked like she was shock. I pulled her to me and watched over them both.
