She smiles up at me at places a kiss on the base of my neck.

Michael's POV:

"Dinner's here!"

I hear dad call out so I sit up, bringing Sophie with me. We go downstairs to the dining room to have dinner with my parents. My mum starts talking to Sophie across the table.

"How have you been Sophie? Your scar looks like it's healing very well."

"Yeah, I'm good. I don't feel any pain from that anymore. The accident wasn't even that bad...I healed pretty much over night at the hospital."

"Yeah, I realised that. That's why I let you go home so quickly. Your parents didn't seem to take that very well though, especially your dad. He wanted me to keep you in for a few nights."

"Yeah, he doesn't exactly get along with me. That's why I'm here, I try to be out of his way as much as possible."

"That can't be true..."

"Sadly it is."

Sophie grabs my hand under the table, I squeeze it lightly and continue eating.

"In that case, you can stay as long as you want, but I want to talk to your mother first. After dinner could you give me her number?"

"Mum's? Yeah...can you not say anything about dad to her though. She doesn't know how dad feels about me...I'm the only person he told. I want to be the one who tells her."

"I can try for you..."

"Thank you."

***

Everyone has finished dinner by now so I stand up and clear the table, putting everyone's plates on the bench beside the sink. Sophie gets up and starts washing the dishes.

"Thank you guys but you don't have to clean up."

"It's the least I can do."

"I'll go get some paper so you can write down your mum's number for me."

"Ok."

Once the dishes are done and the kitchen and dining room is clean Sophie writes her Mum's number on some paper and we go back up to my room. Once we get in there my phone rings, it's Sophie's number. I show her and she collapses on my bed. I sit at the foot of my bed and pick up putting the phone on loud speaker.

"Hello?"

"Michael. Is my daughter with you?"

I recognise her dad's voice. I look at Sophie and she shakes her head at me.

"Yes, she is."

"I know that you're aware that she's grounded. Where do you live, I'm coming to pick her up."

I tell him my address and he hangs up on me. Sophie sits up and glares at me.

"Did you seriously tell him where you live! Do you even care about me?"

"Sophie, of course I care about you. And I was excited for you to stay, but I couldn't say no to your dad. He already hates me."
