Musically Problematic

Chapter 22: Triple Zer000

I hang up and collapse face down on my pillows. I scream out in frustration before soaking my pillows with tears.

Sophie's POV:

Dad acts all nice and innocent around Mikey's parents, joking with them and all. As soon as we get in the car he starts yelling at me, telling me how I am grounded for life and that his life would be so much better if he just sent me to boarding school. Honestly I wouldn't mind going to boarding school just to get away from him, but I don't want to lose Mikey. Dad pulls up in our driveway and opens the glovebox, pulling out boarding school application papers...filled out completely and ready to send in the morning. If he didn't know I was crying before, he does now. I run out the car, slamming the door, I run into the house and up to my room slamming both doors. I collapse on my bed crying into my pillow. I smell my shirt and it has Mikey's sent on it from his bed, I love it for a minute before it suddenly becomes unbearable. I strip off to my underwear before getting back into my bed and crying myself to sleep.

*Next Morning*

"Sophia! Time to get up!"

Dads booming voice takes me out of my sleep brutally. I get up and go to get out my books but dad interrupts me.

"You aren't going to school today...I have other plans and this is your punishment for sneaking out all these times that you've been grounded. And what's even better is that your mother is out so she'll never know about it. If she finds out through you or anyone you will serve much worse punishments and you will never see your new friend again."

"Please don't hurt me...I don't deserve this. I'm so sorry for running off..."

I get cut off by a truck pulling up outside, I run to my window to see a tree felling truck.

"You aren't getting that tree cut down are you?"

"Yes, I wasn't going to do it since your mum doesn't want to. But if it keeps you in here and 'safe' then she agrees. Don't worry about that now, there's something else that you need to do."

"You aren't going to make me do...that...again are you? Please please don't! It's so wrong! I'm your daughter! What about mum? Don't you love her?"

"Since you were born she doesn't do much for me...unless she wants more kids and she's done with kids now so we're done with that sort of thing."

"I understand but that doesn't mean I have to do it with you."

"Come here and do you punishment. The sooner your punishment is payed, the sooner you can be in here alone and start packing."

"Packing? Packing for what? Where are you sending me?"

"Boarding school...I showed you the papers last night. I'm posting them after your punishment has been payed. Hurry up and do this! I still have to go to work, I'm starting late."

He undoes his belt and slides his pants down and steps out of them. I decide I can't and won't do this, I run past him and downstairs. I pick up our home phone and dial 000.

"Triple zero, what is your emergency?"

"My dad is trying to make me give him a blow job and it's not the first time. He sexually abuses me when I don't do what we wants me to! Please! Please help me!"

I run outside as I hear him coming downstairs. As I get outside I feel the cold breeze hit my body and I shiver, now realising that I'm only in my underwear. The male tree fellers stare at me and I wrap my arm around my stomach. I sit beside a bush and cry into the phone but I notice that the line has gone quiet. I look down the street and see Luke and Penny walking down her driveway hand in hand. I bring my knees up to my chest and put my head in my knees, in an attempt to be smaller and not be noticed. I realise that Luke will have a phone that dad can't disconnect the power to. I stand up quickly and run over to them.

"LUKE! I...I NEED HELP! GIVE ME YOUR PHONE! PLEASE!"

They both run over to me as I collapse on the sidewalk, I hear my front door slam. I look over at dad and grab Luke's hand so tight.

"Luke please...please...you have to help me..."

He pulls me up and Penny hands me her phone.

"I'm here to help too, call who ever you need to. Do you want to go back to my house, it's safer than out here...and I can give you some clothes?"

"Yes...thank you so much."

We start walking towards her house but I feel hands on my shoulders pulling me backwards and I fall on my back on the road. I feel a sharp pain in my cheek and everything goes white.

Luke's POV:

Sophie's dad comes up behind us and slaps her to the ground. I freeze out of shock but feel Penny reach into my pocket pulling out my phone. Hers had flung out of Soph's hand and onto the road somewhere when she fell. She dials 000 and then hands my phone to me as she runs towards her house most likely to get her parents out to help.

"Hello? Triple zero? There's an emergency on Lumburt Drive! A girl is being beat up by an older man...her father."

"Hang up that phone now or you suffer the same fate!"

I start to shake and my thumb slides towards the red symbol but they speak on the other end.

"Police and ambulance are on their way...put your phone in your pocket. Make it look like you hung up. I need to hear everything he says to you, to make sure the situation doesn't get worse."

I take my phone away from my ear and put it in my pocket. He looks up at me.

"Good man. Now walk away and don't tell anyone. Stop your girlfriend from saying anything!"

I take my phone out of my pocket and make it look like I'm calling her. At that moment a police car and ambulance pull up down the road. They run over to us.

"I thought you hung up!"

I press the red symbol and turn my phone around to him.

"I have."
