After sending off my last goodnight text to Michael, I finish packing my bag and tidy up my apartment. Once everything is ready for me to be away for three days I shut off the lights and get some much needed rest for my big day tomorrow.

Sophie's POV:

It's finally the day I get to see my little siblings and Michael again. I've missed all of them so much. I get dressed so quickly and grab my pre-packed bag and head down to my car. I drive straight to Subway for breakfast for on the road before my half an hour trip back home to Riverstone.

I park in front of Mum's house to see my siblings. I haven't talked to mum in years but I have kept in touch with Bryce and Anna. I refuse to go inside in case mum is home so I pull out my phone and text Anna.
Hey Anna, I'm out the front. Let's go out somewhere, bring Bryce too But don't tell mum who you're with.

From Anna:
I can't just not tell mum who I'm going out with, if you didn't realise you kinda screwed the idea of privacy for us. Mum's on a need-to-know-basis for where we are or else we aren't allowed to leave.

Just make something up this once, I'm not in town for long.

She doesn't message back but a few minutes later the front door open and out comes a more grown up version of my little siblings, they close the door behind them and jog over to the car getting in. Once they're buckled in I pull out and drive towards the shopping centre, as I haven't had lunch yet and it seems like an appropriate place to try to get presents for them as I won't be seeing them tomorrow.

I start some small talk as we walk around, firstly to the food court for me to get lunch.

"So what's been happening with you two?"

"School, nothing interesting. A guy asked me out but because of you and Michael's mistake mum won't let me hang out with him. I still sit with him at school though."

"Me and Mike are working things out now, don't let what mum says and my mistakes scare you. Although you are only in grade 9 going into grade 10 so don't get too caught up on relationships just yet."

"But you and Michael first got together in grade 10 didn't you?"

"Well, yeah but that doesn't mean you have to, too. What about you young man, what's happening with you? You excited to start high school next year?"

"Yeah, I can't wait to be with all the big kids and make more friends."

"That's a great way to be."

As we walk out of the food court after eating I see someone I was hoping not to run into. We make eye contact for a few seconds before I look away and try to steer the kids into a novelty shop to avoid him.

"So what do you guys want for Christmas? I won't be with you guys because I'm spending it with Mike and his family, that's why I'm here today, so I can get you your presents now. You find something you like and I'll buy it for you, how's that sound?"

"Why do you have to spend Christmas with him? I thought you guys were never gonna speak to each other again, that's why you killed the baby."
