KAT'S POV
"Okay, so you're telling me that you're going to go to that house, the one where Brit is going to be at?" Nikki puts her hand against my forehead. "Are you feeling okay?" She says semi-seriously.
"What am I supposed to do Nik. I need to do this project." I explain to her, passing her the bag of gummy bears.
We are both sitting on my couch on a Saturday, trying to watch a movie but she's too worried about what I'm doing tonight to even watch it.
"I don't know but I mean you're just going to hangout with all the people that have screwed you over? That kinda seems like hell to me." She counters.
"I know, I don't know what else I'm supposed to do? I mean Jennifer invited me to dinner afterwards, am I supposed to just say 'sorry I can't, both of your sons have screwed up my life.' I'm just going to suck it up." I decide, telling her.
"You're leaving again tonight anyway, what does it matter?" I say, with slight bitterness. I love that she always travels with her parents and helps people but it usually leaves me by myself, I just want to have my best friend here sometimes.
"I said I was sorry, I didn't know the next one was this close." She sighs.
"I know, it just sucks you know." I tell her.
"Yeah, trust me I know." She says.
"Speaking of it, I should probably head back so we get to the plane on time." She stands up. I stand up with her and sigh. "Okay, have fun." I say. She walks up to me and hugs me. "I'll miss you, Kat." She says against my shirt. "Don't do anything else exciting until I get back." She laughs. "I'm not sure I can control that." I roll my eyes.
"Well try." She demands.
"I'll try my hardest." I put my hand over my heart.
"Bye."
"Goodbye Nikki."
-----//-----
I start cleaning up the living room after I decided to finish the movie myself before I head over to the Winters house. I pick up the bag of gummy bears, smiling at them. They always remind me of Shane and his obsession with them. He always ate the green ones first, because that was his favorite color. He had to bite their heads off first always joking that it put them out of their misery and that it made him feel better if he couldn't see their faces. He would always leave the yellow ones, leaving them for me because he doesn't think they taste good. I'd yell at him, saying that they all pretty much taste the same but he wouldn't budge.
I start laughing as I put the bag into a cupboard in the kitchen. As I finish up my dad come downstairs, greeting me.
"Where are you heading off to?" He asks, noticing my things by the door. "I'm going to do some more of the project and Jennifer invited me to dinner so I'll be a little late." I explain to him. "That's fine, I'll have your mom pick you up, she's out right now. I'll have her pick you up on her way home." He suggests. I groan, why is she driving us everywhere all of a sudden?
"It's fine I can walk." I tell him. "No, I don't want you walking that late by yourself." He says. I scoff, silently. "That's rich." I say under my breath.
"What?" He narrows his eyes.
"Nothing." I say before leaving the house, closing the door behind me. I head down the side walk, throwing my bag over my shoulder.

Maybe Nikki was right. This is going to be weird having to be there with Brit. Especially with the way she's been acting recently. It's like her attitude is flip flopping around. I don't know how she's going to act around me outside of school.
Is she going to be rude? Ignore me? Talk to me?

I don't know and it kind of scares me that I don't know what to expect from her anymore. At least when she was bullying me I know exactly what was going to happen. Now I'm not sure which way she is going to act.

Shane on the other hand, is different. I know exactly what he's going to do when he's mad. He's going to ignore me, say a few words maybe. He's going to be extremely passive aggressive to everybody because he's hurt but won't let anyone know that. He still going to look at me though, he's going to watch me closely because he still wants to make sure I'm okay.
I've been through this so many times this past year that it's almost second nature. I speak 'Shane' almost as well as his mom does at this point.
