KAT'S POV

To think my life couldn't get any worse.

My best friend or should I say ex-best friend decided in 9th grade that I wasn't good enough for her after we started high school and decided that I wasn't worth her time. Saying how she can't believe we were ever friends and that she wasted her time with me. I'm not sure where the sudden hatred for me came from.To this day I wish I knew why she hates me so much. It is honestly still a mystery to me to this day.To make it even better she began bullying me once she decided to ditch me. She started acting like we never met. Like I haven't known her my whole life. Like I don't know every little tick and detail about her. Things other people will never know about her.

I'm that girl that either no one notices or they hate and for what, I have no clue. I've always been on the quiet side and hated confrontation. I guess people took that as an invitation to walk all over me and I regrettably let them. I didn't really care though, sadly I'm not confident enough to defend myself at least not most of the time.

To add onto my already sucky life my bully-pre Brit- has come back.

Shane Winters the most aggravating, big headed ass I've ever known.
We've lived a couple of blocks away from each other all our lives. We were friends for a short amount of time in kindergarten, before popularity and cliques were a thing.
He started bullying me at an early age. Around 4th grade he would pull pranks and pushed me around and has been ever since, it just got worse with every school year, until he got sent off to juvie at the end 9th grade after a prank gone wrong . I don't know what it was but all I know is  that the prank accidentally turned out dangerous. He got shipped off around the same time Brit became my 'new' bully.
What a coincidence.
And now that we are entering the first month of 12th grade I'll have two bullies to deal with.

Fun.
---------------------------------

"Hey I heard the news!" my best friend Nikki says, running up to me in the school hall at full speed.
"Ugh don't remind me." I say in disgust. Nikki is like that energetic little puppy who's always happy and peppy, she can always cheer you up. I find it odd that we became friends considering how different we are. I'm pretty gloomy compared to her.

"Maybe he'll leave you alone." she unrealistically suggests. "I mean I heard juvie changes people." She gives me a look. I laugh.
"Yeah right it's been his life mission to ruin my life since I can remember." I scoffed. I'm dreading running into him. I've already started making escape routes in order to avoid him. I don't know how I'm going to get through this school year.

Nikki is that friend that everyone dreams of having. The one you see in the movies and say I wish I had a best friend like that.
She's always there for me and super supportive. We had met in ninth grade when we were both thrown into those giant trash cans, which by the way was so original on Brits part. Anyway ever since that day we had become the best of friends. We tell each other almost everything.

----//----
The bell rings announcing the end of the day.
When I arrive home, I open the door to find my parents fighting which I'm used to by now.  They are pointing and screaming about each of their flaws.
It has been going on for a while now. He's mad because she cheated and has a drug problem and she's mad because he's a deadbeat alcoholic you can see how that could be an issue. I was devastated to hear that my mom would cheat. It caused a strain in all of our relationships. They want to work it out for me and my brother but at the rate they are going I doubt that's going to work. I have been spending more and more time in my room alone lately and don't want to believe that this is happening to my family. I just roll my eyes and lay on my bed.

---------------------
I wake up the next morning freaking out. All I can think about is how Shane is back. With the things he's done to me, being in hell would be more suitable. Luckily it's Saturday so I won't have to encounter him for two days.

I get ready and drag myself downstairs to see my mom sitting at the counter holding a big white envelope. Her face is puffy and red and I know she had been crying all night. I already know what the papers means. They're divorce papers. Looks like she's moving in with her new 'boyfriend'. It's more of a guilt thing really. She's been waiting to leave us for a while now, this just gave her a reason.

"Oh honey your awake, I need you to do something for me." my mom smiles sadly.
"Yeah?" I ask.
"On your way to Nikki's can you drop this off at Judge Winters..." she says handing me the papers.

I freeze.

She wants me to go to that house. The one where Shane lives. Does she hate me.
"Umm I don't know I-" I start but she cuts me off.
"Just do it please!" she slightly yells making me flinch. She holds her head in her hands indicating her head hurts. I know better that to argue so I agree and start walking to the Winters house.

-------------------------
I reach the house and stop at the driveway really not wanting to do this. I don't see any cars in the driveway and I pray that no one is home.
I swallow hard and go up to the door and knock. To my luck the one and only Shane Winters opens the door.

I look at him wide eyed when I see him. He definitely changed.
He's gotten taller and more muscular. His brown hair is longer now and looks a lot lighter and his eyes are a dangerous hue of grey. He's gotten more tattoos scattered across his arms, making him look very rugged and gritty. He stares back at me surprise flashing in his eyes as well.

"Kitty....is that you?" He asks looking me up an down making me uncomfortable. His eyes are wide looking at me like I grew a second  head. I roll my eyes at the stupid nickname he used to call me.

"I uh..my mom wanted to give this to your dad." I ignore his question not looking in his eyes.
"Huh... You actually look decent kit kat." He says dismissing everything I said.

I think that was meant as a compliment. Kind of.

He shakes off whatever surprise he has and takes the paper and to my surprise grabs my arm and brings me in to his house.
Not to my surprise I step on a string making a bucket of syrup fall all over me.
"I over heard my dad on the phone saying you were coming over." he doubles over laughing.

And the torture begins.

I just glare at him while he looks me up and down again.
"Wow you really do look...like a girl." he says surprised, his laughter subsiding.
So I wasn't the most attractive kid back then, but I mean I looked like a girl back then.
"Well you still look like a douche." I counter.
He smirks, nodding. "At least I'm not covered in syrup." he says. It was a pretty childish prank considering some of the other pranks he's pulled on me. I mean one time I had itching powder all over my body for a week and he 'accidentally' dyed my hair bright green.
I growl and turn on my heels to walk out the door. I'm really not in the mood for this. I'm on the side walk when I hear Shane.
"See you at school kitty!" he says innocently, his deep voice emanating.

----------------------

"What happened to you?" Nikki says once I reach her house, scrunching her face in disgust.
"Shane happened." I say and she rolls get eyes.
"Already, that sucks Kat." she says obviously. "He's such a douche bag I swear."
"Tell me about it." I go to her bathroom to take a shower scrubbing forever to get this gunk out.

Oh I can't wait until school.
