KAT'S POV
"Okay! Break it up now!" The security run into the room followed by the principal, stopping Shane from pounding on Nate any longer. They are each grabbed my a guard and yanked to separate parts of the room. "You two in my office!" He points his meaty fingers at the both of them. "You too." He tells me, raising his eyebrows. We all awkwardly make our way to his office as he talks to someone on his phone. Making it to his office we find Shane's mom and dad standing in the middle of the room watching us get escorted in roughly. "Mr. and Ms. Winters glad you could join us." He snarls, eyeing Shane as if this were his fault. The security had placed each of them in seats across the room from each other as to not cause any more trouble. I find myself standing, inching my way to the area with Shane and his parents. "What's going on?" Jennifer asks, referring to her sons bloody face. "That's what I'd like to know, this is inexcusable behavior." He states rashly. Chases face scrunches as he looks at the principal in disbelief. "I'm sure you know about the complex circumstances surrounding them." Chase asks the principal. He nods in return. "I do but as far as I can tell it's all just allegations until proven otherwise." I hear him say, scoffing involuntarily. "That is no excuse for attacking another student." He adds.
"I'm not saying that Shane couldn't have handled the situation better but under the circumstances can you really blame him?" Chase says.
"I understand the frustration but there isn't much I can do about the situation." He admits. "Nate is our star athlete and hasn't shown anyone here anything but utter respect, your boy on the other hand..." He pauses and looks over at Shane who is returning his look with a glare. "Well he hasn't had the best track record with the school, he's completely rebellious and chaotic." He states only what he thinks he knows.
"I have to go with what I know and this definitely wasn't Shane's first fight at school." He tells Shane's parents who look completely perplexed. I gawk at how he's stereotyping them and using that to justify his beliefs in who is in the wrong. "You can't just decide to put all the blame on Shane because of how you see him." Jennifer speaks up, pressing her hand on the principals desk.
"Wouldn't you say you're a little biased in this situation Ms. Winters?" He looks at her, raising his right eyebrow smugly. "So are you, sir." She waves her hands, pointing to Nate.
"Focusing on the matter at hand Shane did throw the first punch and that is all we can discuss as of now." He places both of his hands on his belt buckle. "Mr. Winters you are one of the head lawyers heading this case yes?" Chase nods sharply, giving me a soft look. "I'm sure this will be brought up in the courthouse and you can address those issues at the appropriate place." He added sitting back into his chair.
"As for you Katherine, we can't have you bringing your personal problems into a school environment if it will cause violent disruptions." He steers the conversation my way. I involuntarily scoff at his statement. He's being serious. "I didn't ask for this, for any of it." I snark, not having much patience for his tone.
He looks around at each and everyone of us in the room before sighing. "Okay this is obviously a touchy issue for some of you so I'll let you off with a warning this time." He looks only at Shane scolding him.
"Shane, I want you to stay away from Nate okay?" He adds not wanting any more trouble brought to his favorite student.
"Gladly." Shane sneers lifting his sore body off the chair, glancing menacingly at Nate before turning to look at me his gaze softening.
"Go home...all of you." He sighs tired of seeing us. We all exit the room, Nate looking back at us before walking away.
"Are you guys okay? Let's get you home." Jennifer frets grabbing her sons face examining it while glancing over at me to make sure we are both okay.
"Im fine mom, my car is here so we'll meet you guys at home in a bit." He musters up a smile trying to get them to leave.
"Okay...see you in a bit." They leave hesitantly glancing at us once again.
Once alone we get into Shane's car, settling into the seats. We leave the school parking lot, thankful to be out of that place.::::::::::::::
"Stop doing that." Shane sneaks a glance at me watching him intently.
"What? I can't look at my boyfriend?" I smirk, trying to lighten the mood. I succeed when I hear the chuckle escapes his lips. "You're not looking you're worrying." He grins, grabbing my hand in his messed up one.
"I'm just observing." I indicate his injuries admitting that I'm a little worried.
"I know I'm not looking too hot." He comments scrunching up his nose at the thought of the extents of his injuries. I lean a little closer to him, looking back at him.
"Actually, you look kind of sexy." I purr in a low voice, causing him to raise and eyebrow at me, staring sideways. A smirk quickly makes its way onto his face at my comment.
He mumbles incoherently, grinning as he leans over to kiss my lips as we sit at a stop light.
I push his shoulder slightly as the light goes green and he makes no indication of moving. "Eyes on the road mister." I narrow my eyes at him. "Yes ma'am." His deep voice reverberates as he gives me a wink.:::::::
"We might have a problem." Chase walks into the living room as soon as we arrive with worry etched on his face. "I screwed up, didn't I?" Shane asks from beside me, sighing, his posture slumping. "Not necessarily but it can definitely hurt us if they decide to bring it up in court." He explains, slightly putting me at ease. Slightly.
"They can't actually use that can they?" I wonder, thinking of how they could do that. "They can and looking it over they probably will because they don't really have any solid foundation against you considering he has practically admitted to it but that won't stop them." He continues, waving his hands around. It was my turn to slump feeling like no matter what they will find a loophole and end up winning. "Let's not panic yet okay kitty? It happened and that's a fact, they can't erase that." Shane slides his fingers up and down my spine pulling my body closer to his looking down at me. I nod giving him a small smile to appease him.
"Kitty?" We both snap our heads up to see Chase raising both eyebrows with a small smirk, trying and failing at looking parental and stern. I widen my eyes not realizing what the big deal was. Shane opens his mouth slightly before closing it quickly as if he were about to speak.
"Uhh yeah, her names Kat so I call her kitty, get it." Shane says slowly explaining it to his dad. "I've been calling her that since as long as I can remember." Shane says, slightly defensive. That's when Shane's dad smiles nodding his head. "I know, I just was surprised. I didn't know you still called her that." He can't hide his growing smile. I smile with him looking up at Shane who had a growing blush on his cheeks. Chase backs out of the room eventually leaving us be. I drop my head on Shane's shoulder, my fingers finding their way to his, interlocking them. "I'm scared." I admit, mumbling into his arm. He looks down towards me, scrunching his face. He bites his lip with thought, admitting it himself.
