Chapter 9: Parties and I Don't Get Along

KAT'S POV

"Uh I don't want to do this." I say looking at myself in the mirror all dressed up.
"Come on you promised Shane and he's on his way it's kind of too late to back out." Nikki says doing my make up.
"Anyway you guys are my ride to the party so.." She says.
"Ugh I know I'm just scared." I say.
Parties and me never end well all thanks to Brit.

Once Nikki finishes we hear the door bell ring. I walk down and and open the door.
"I was gonna go through your window but I thought the door bell would be-" he cuts himself off looking at me, making me feel self conscious.
"Wow kitty you look good." he says sounding breathless. An actual smile not a smirk or scoff but a smile. wow.
"Thanks." I say nervously. these feelings I'm feeling around Shane are confusing me.
"Ok guys ready?" Nikki comes down oblivious to the conversation.
"Let's go." Shane says walking to his car.
We get in and start towards the party.
All through the ride I stare out the window in thought. Which is a bad idea because I can't stop thinking about what will happen when Brit sees me. All I know is it won't be pretty.

"Is she ok?" I hear Shane ask.
"Yeah she's just nervous. she does this all the time." Nikki says.
We've been parked in front of the party for ten minutes now and I'm completely frozen.
"Uh ok you go to the party I got this." Shane says and Nikki hesitates before walking to the front door.
He opens my door on my side and kneels down to my eye level.
"Hey." he says putting his hand on my thigh. That gets my attention and I turn to face him.
He must've seen something on my face because his expression goes soft. "Everything's gonna be fine kitty. I'll be right there." he says.
Yeah that helps. actually it does a little.
Ok keep it together Kat Shane's here so Brit won't try anything right? suck it up and try to have fun.
"Ok I'm ready." I breathe out and Shane smiles standing up.
We walk in and I am reminded of why I don't like parties. There are people grinding, making out, smoking and more. It smells like a toilet but no one seems to care.
Shane puts his hand on the small of my back steering me to a less crowded area. I shiver at that small gesture but don't say anything. I look around and see a food table and go for some gummy bears and a cup of punch. I start to sway to the music without noticing. I don't notice until I see Shane grinning at me.
"You having fun?" he says coming a little closer to me. I nod still swaying to the music. "yup." I giggle. he frowns and grabs the cup in my hand. spiked.
So I'm a lightweight.
"Kitty." he shakes his head sighing. "Don't  you know not to drink punch at parties ever?" he says and I just smile feeling the buzz of the alcohol.
I look around and stop smiling when I see Brit dancing with Alex but watching me at the same time. I try not to focus on her and grab Shane and start dancing with him.
I know I would never do that sober but I'm a little out of it. Shane seems a little shocked but then he dances too and we dance together.
I put my arms around his neck and he puts his on my waist. We move in sync for a good ten minutes until Shane gets ripped away from me.
Behind him is a fuming Alex. He's drunk but not enough to not understand thing that he's doing.
"What are you doing?" I say.
he walks up to me pushing Shane back.
"You seriously came with him?!" he says scoffing. I look at him.
why does he care?
I say nothing and that gets another scoff.
"Wow you are perfect for your family. Always hiding behind something instead of facing the problem." he says and I start getting pissed he keeps talking shit about my family.
I bite back the urge to say your girlfriend is the problem.
I see Shane trying to get past him and looking at me.
"So weak like them." he says before Brit comes and drags him away thankfully not talking to me.
"kitty.." Shane says looking at me.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I say quickly running up the stairs going into some random empty room instead.
I sit there trying not to cry but what he said gets to me.
I hear the door open and look up to see a wasted guy smiling at me.
I suddenly get terrified. I struggle to stand up as he walks closer to me shutting the door.
"Hey there. wanna have some fun?" he asks harshly. I shake my head no an try to walk around him but he pushes me back against the wall.
He pushes himself against me grazing his fingers under my dress pulling it up. I struggle against him with tears running down my face.
He pulls it even higher grabbing my body. I let out a little scream.
He doesn't get any further because the door opens.
"Ok that's enough jake." Brit says grinning at me.
Jake grins and runs his fingers through my hair and backs away walking out of the room.
"That was a warning you ever come to my parties again you're gonna wish you didn't exist." She sneers before walking out of the room.
With tears still streaming down my face I leave the room and the house walking outside.
"Hey are you ok?" I feel someone turn me around. Alex.

What the freakin hell does he care?

I don't answer but just let the tears fall.
Shane comes out and sees me and Alex.
"Kitty?"
"What the- What did you do?" Shane says to Alex.
"Dude it wasn't me I found her like that." Alex sad raising his hands in the air.
Shane ignores him and looks at me.
"Where were you? I was looking everywhere." he says and I snap.

I start slapping his chest.
"This is your fault! I told you I shouldn't have come!! I told you!" I say crying.
My hitting weakens and I clutch his shirt and he pulls me in.

"It's ok kitty. I'm here. shh." He says.

"I told you." I whisper again.

"I'm so sorry kitty."

He rubs little circles on my back comforting me and I forget that Alex is there and right now I couldn't care less.

"I'm sorry."
