Chapter 47

Lance pulled up his sleeves revealing tatoo markings on his arms. He prepared his stance as he focused his spirit energy. Then, he placed his spear in front of him and said, "Come, Hajimari and Owari." His tatoo markings crawled to the shaft of his spear. Focusing all his spirit energy onto it, the spear glowed brightly. Then, it began to dissolve in thin air. When the weapon was completely gone, ice and snow swirled around him until it formed two dragons.
Argus stood still with a grin on his face watching Lance summoning the two dragons. He felt a surge of excitement spreading throughout his body. After a while, he began to frown. "How unfair of you," Argus whined like a brat. "Those aren't part of the rules. No beast summoning. Cheater!"
"How childish," Lance murmured.
"What was that?" said Argus.
"Nevermind. Anyway, these two aren't summoning beasts. They are, rather, to be known as weapons. Tools. Hajimari and Owari. Alpha and Omega. Beginning and End. Both are opposites but they are bound to be one. Without either one of them, there will be imbalance. They make sure that they are completely in sync."
"I see. I wonder why I've never seen them before..." Argus began scratching his head. "Oh well." He dashed toward Lance and thrusted his blazing sword, but the two dragons immediately protected Lance with their bodies. Lance was having quite a difficulty in handling them because of their size. He needs to be accurate on where Argus might strike next. One wrong move and it'll be game over for him.
Argus was trying to get passed the dragons, but they kept blocking his way. They were trying to devour him, but he was cautious of his surroundings. Argus knew where to block even though he was having a hard time.
Lance was getting used to it so far. Controlling the dragons was hard at first, but he was able to move them around. He controlled Hajimari with his right arm and Owari with his left. It took time before he was able to handle them with ease. With Owari, he pushed Argus away. Lance was already panting. He never knew that using his ultimate weapon would drain most of his spirit energy.
"Keep it together, Lance." Pagos was worried for him since he was almost out of energy. "You can do this. Just hold on for a bit longer."
"I am. It's just that these dragons are draining my spirit energy. I never knew that it would cost this much to maintain their form," said Lance while panting. Lance observed Argus carfully. It seems that he is shaking a little.
"Hey, Pagos, can you see Argus?" Lance asked.
"Of course I do," Pagos replied. "It seems that he's getting a little exhausted too."
"That's right. It means that I need to push a little bit more." Lance was putting his hopes up. He still believed that he could win this.
"Aw. Tired already? You're such an amateur. I can't stand your half-baked skills. It's making me sick. Oh well, at least this will end quickly," said Argus.
"Let's see about that." Lance did a hand sign. Afterward, marks formed on his arms which glowed brightly. Then, the dragons circled around Argus. It began slowly at first, but they swirled faster as until it became a hurricane. The hurricane stopped and revealed Argus trapped in an ice chamber. After doing another hand sign, dragon heads came out of the corners of the chamber bitting Argus's limbs to hold him still.
"What are you going to hold me in here? You know that I can break free from here in any moment." Argus was getting impatient with what Lance was doing.
"I'm not done yet." Lance did more hand signs. Then, a huge dragon ice statue came out of the ground and ate the chamber where Argus was trapped. "Blizzard Bomb!" From inside the dragon's snout, an explosion occured. The giant dragon ice statue crumbled to pieces after, and Argus fell on the ground.
"Is... is it over? Did we win?" asked Lance as he panted continuously. He was already tired. He wanted to collapse, but he wanted to make sure it was over first.
"I can't feel any trace of him," said Pagos. "I guess it's all over."
Lance was relieved. He could finally calm down, but he still needed to fix the burning kingdom. He stared at the city as it burned.
"Okay. Let's extinguish the flames." Lance was exhausted. He wanted to fall on the ground, but he still needs to put out the flames. Then, he noticed that the flames that spread throughout the city began to extinguish.
"Wait, Pagos. Something feels wrong." Lance felt nervous all of a sudden. Then, the flames were completely gone.
A pillar of flames bursted from bellow him. Lance wasn't able to dodge it, so he got caught in the flames.
"Have you forgotten? Fire replenishes my strength and spirit energy." Argus flew up from the ground. "Stupid frost mage. You can't match up to my strength. I'm the best there is! But, hey, that attack of yours almost had me. It's just that... it wasn't enough."
When the pillar of flames was completely gone, Lance fell to the ground with no strength left.
"Lance! Speak to me! Lance!" Pagos was panicking. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't even save Lance from falling.
"That's the end for the frost mage! And also for this city!" Argus laughed maniacally.
