Chapter 1

It was a bright and sunny day in September. Just a perfect day to go to school... Well, for most people.

"Rise and shine, son!" Someone said as he slammed the door open. "You don't want to be late on you first day of school."

The person on the bed removed his blanket on his face while opening his eyes slowly.

"It's almost 7:00. If you won't get up, you'll be late," said the father.

"Yeah, Dad. I'm up," said the boy.

"Lance, you're already grown up and you still can't wake yourself up. This is your first day in magic school and you still have to be late," said his father.

"Yeah, Dad, I know. But, why do I have to go to a magic school if I could just go to an ordinary one. Mom is an ordinary human, so I'm an ordinary human, too," said Lance as he got dressed in his uniform.

"Yeah. But, you still have the blood of a sorcerer," said his father.

"Dad, I barely know what I'm capable of. People in school might think that I'm...abnormal," answered lance as he prepared.

"Don't say such nonsense. It will be fine. I promise," said his father as he took out something from his pocket. "Here I want you to have this." His father gave him a blur pendant. It was so shiny that it attracted lance.

"WH-what is it?" He asked.

"It's a blue, snowflake pendant. It's made of sapphire stone that came from a certain cave," his dad replied.

"Is it...from the guy in the story that you keep telling me when I was a kid?"

"I don't think so. It was my dad's. He told me to give it to you when it's the right time. And, I think now is the right time," he gave it to lance as a gift. He stared at it while feeling suspicious.

"Wear it at all costs. Never take it off and never lend it to anyone. Now, am I clear?"

"Yeah. Whatever, Dad."

"Okay. Now, you better get going or you'll be late," said his father.

"'Kay. See ya after school!"

Lance rushed out the door as he forgot to eat breakfast. He ran as quickly as he could just to beat the time. Finally, he reached school on time.

School was just few blocks away from his house. He could just walk there anytime.

"All freshmen please proceed to the auditorium. Again, all freshmen please proceed to the auditorium," said a staff through a megaphone.

So, all the freshmen proceeded to the auditorium to have their orientation. Once the students settled down on their seats, the school principal stepped on the stage.

"Good morning students and welcome to Manteio Academy's auditorium. For those who don't know me yet, I am Miss Jenny Starlight. I am your school principal. I am here today to discuss the systems of the academy," announced Miss Starlight. "We have seven classes in each year level. They're also arranged from the star class, which is the class that holds the strongest sorcerers and magicians, to the weakest class. So, if you end up in the lowest class, don't look down on yourself because we will train you to become stronger. Now, how will we observe your power? Well, after this orientation, you will proceed to the lobby and check the assigned rooms. After looking for your room assignments, proceed to your respective rooms and you will be tested one-by-one there. Well, i wish you all the luck. You are dismissed."

After hearing the orientation, lance was getting nervous. He was thinking on what might happen to him on the testing. But, he thought of positive thoughts to encourage him. Even though he doesn't know his potential, he still thought that he will succeed.

So, he went to the lobby and checked his room assignment. He saw that he ended up in the diamond class. Because of that he was so happy about it. Then, one person stared at him and said, "What are you so happy about?"

"I'm going to the diamond class!" He replied cheerfully.

"So? It's just a testing room. It doesn't mean that you ended up in the top class means that you'll be there permanently," said the girl with the ribbon tied to her ponytail.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry..." Lance said apologizing.

"Why did you just apologize? I didn't do anything to you, and neither did you. Wow, your such an idiot," the girl said.

"Whatever. You and your mouth."

"Whatever. Smell ya later," she said as she smirked and walked away.

Jerk, lance thought. He now has a new rival. Whoever she is... I'll beat her by being stronger than her, he thought. A new challenge has awakened his nerves. What will happen in the testing? That will be figured out.
