Chapter 14

There are also magic in other countries rather than Canada. Other countries also hold secrets that only some knows. Russia, for example, is a country that holds information on the hidden power of ice and snow.

It was snowing in Russia. Thick sheets of snow covered the streets. People were trying to warm themselves by putting on two coats. Some, on the other hand, were trying to warm themselves by lighting a fire.

One day, a certain man arrived in Russia. He was a Canadian, but dressed as a Russian. He had a thick, brownish-red, fur coat. He also wore black slacks and a pair of brown, fur boots.

He was on his way to a bar to grab a drink. When he got there, he looked around as if he was trying to reminisce. He sat on a high stool that was near the bartender.

"Ah! Andrew, long time no see!" said the bartender as he tossed the shaker around him. "Didn't expect you to be here."

"Nice to meet you again, Gavriil," said Andrew with a slight smile.

"So, what brings you here today?" asked Gavriil.

"I have business to take care of," replied Andrew shortly.

"And what business is that?" asked Gavriil as he offered a drink.

He got the drink and took a sip and said, "I-I'll tell you soon. For now, I need to ask you something."

"What is that?"

Then, a woman entered the bar. She had blonde, curly hair. She wore a beige, trench coat and a violet high-neck sweater underneath. She also wore thick, black leggings and a pair of high-heeled boots.

"Gavriil, give me a drink," she said.

"Oh! Nadia, you came back," said Gavriil.

"Of course I came back. I'm your valued customer, remember?" she said. Then, she saw Andrew on a high stool drinking a glass of beer. She grinned and said, "Is that who I think it is? Andrew Garen?"

Andrew looked back and saw Nadia approaching him.

"Well, If it isn't Nadia Shostakovich. It's been a long time," said Andrew.

"We haven't settled our scores yet," said Nadia as she sat on a stool beside Andrew.

"Nadia, he just came here, and you want to challenge him right away?" exclaimed Gavriil.

"Why not? I'm not some coward like you," said Nadia.

"Don't underestimate him," said Andrew, "Gavriil has his own skills, too. And, I'm not here to have a battle. I'm quite in a hurry."

"Too bad. But, promise me that we'll have our battle," said Nadia.

"Oh, Andrew, what were you supposed to ask about?" asked Gavriil.

"Oh, I almost forgot. I need to know where the Shrine of Shnezinka is," said Andrew.

"Shrine of Shnezinka?" asked Gavriil. "Isn't it a bit dangerous to go there?"

"He's right," Nadia interupted, "You might even get yourself killed."

"I need to know about something," Andrew replied as he gulped his beer.

"If you want to know that badly, then, here it is. It's located on Ressvet Hill. But, before you get there, you must pass through the Forest of Illusions," Gavriil explained.

"Is there an easier way?" Andrew asked.

"Sad to say there's none, but, if you want, I could give you a map," Gavriil offered.
