Chapter 32

It was a quiet Wednesday night. Lance was reading some books he bought in town. Most of them were history books. He spent three hours reading so far without eating dinner.
He just came back from four missions. So far, all were successful. The first mission was quite boring for him. There were no bandits following them as they were delivering the message. The rest of the missions were bounty hunting. They were even harder. They almost failed, but Albert and Gavin were very helpful with those missions. Without them, they would've failed all their missions.

Lance took his reading very seriously. He even read about Ardenia. As he was reading, Pagos disturbed him.
"Don't you get bored reading all those stuff?"
"It's not boring reading history. It makes me more curious," said Lance.
"I see."
Then, Lance's stomach began to grumble.
"You know what, maybe I should stop reading for now," said Lance as he closed his book and placed it on the shelf.
"So, you're going to the cafeteria and eat?" asked Pagos.
"I don't feel like eating there tonight," said Lance. "Wanna sneak out of school?"
"It's already late. You know that it's not allowed to get out of the premises once the clock hits 7:00 P.M." said Pagos.
"Don't worry. I got an idea!" said Lance. He opened his closet and pulled out a sheet of cloth. It was red as blood.
"What is that?" Pagos asked.
"It's an invisibility cloak," said Lance. "My dad gave it to me. Once you wear this, you'll not only become invisible; but also pass through solid things. It's also water-proof!"
"What happens if you get caught?" asked Pagos, feeling worried.
"Just trust me."
So, Lance got out his room as quietly as possible. He slowly closed the door behind him. He looked around him to see if anyone was still awake, but no one was out. He tiptoed through the hall. When he reached the stairs, he suddenly bumped into someone by accident. It was just Albert.
"Where are you going this late?" he asked suspiciously.
"Uh, nowhere!" Lance replied nervously. "Why are you still awake?"
"I was just going to Bryan's room to borrow something," said Albert. "Hey, why are you still in your casual wear? Don't tell me you're sneaking out."
"I'm not!" said Lance. Suddenly, his stomach growled. "Sorry. Can't stay for long. Got to go!"
Then, he rushed down the stairs and got out of the building. He hid somewhere and wore his cloak. It looked like an ordinary mantle. Then, he put on the hood. Suddenly, his body faded and disappeared. He quickly passed through the closed gate and went to town.

The town was still active. Street lights were still on, and vendors were still selling. There were a lot of street food as he walked through town. He was gazing upon all of it as he walked. He had so many to choose from. So, he bought some that he thought was delicious and went somehere else to eat. He decided to go to the fountain.

No one was at the fountain. Lance can finally eat alone. He sat there and started to eat all the food he bought.
"We should do this sometimes," said Lance with his mouth full.
"If you won't be caught again, then, we could do this; but I hope you control yourself. You were almost caught earlier by that Albert boy," said Pagos.
"Yeah, yeah. Nothing to worry about. He's not a hall monitor or something," said Lance as he gulped his food down.
Everything was going peaceful. Suddenly, there was a rampage happening in a part of town.
Lance was still eating. He did not feel like going, but Pagos forced him.
"Why do stuff like this happen in bad timing?" said Lance as he put on his invisibility cloak. When he was invisible, he did the releasing spell and broke the seal that suppressed his powers. Then, the symbol of chains appeared on his forehead and broke. Suddenly, he transformed to his battle form, summoned his wings and flew to where the scene was. He flew to the northern part of town.
There was fire spreading from the north. It seemed that there was a person destroying the area. Lance flew down to see who was making the trouble. It was a man in a green cloak. He had curly blonde hair. His eyes were hazelnut brown. He wore a white button-front shirt with a dark-green vest. He also wore black slacks and a pair of leather shoes.
The man was shooting green lightning out of his fingers. He just kept destroying the things around him.
It was the first time Lance encountered a lightning elemental. He landed on the ground in front of the lightning user.
"Stop what you're doing!" Lance demanded.
So, the lightning user stopped shooting lightning.
"Who are you, and what is your business here?" Lance asked.
"Frost mage!" said the man as if he knew Lance for a long time already. "Just the man I wanted to see!"
"Who are you?" Lance demanded.
"Oh, excuse my manners," he said. "I am George Eros, the lime flash. What's with the mask? You could at least show me your face."
Suddenly, Lance lunged at him with his spear. George dodged the attack and said, "That was rude." He jumped and summoned his lightning at Lance.
Lance blocked the lightning with a wall of ice. He immediately charged at George after the lightning disappeared. Suddenly, Lance was kicked in the gutt; and he fell back. He felt static shock spreading throughout his body after receiving that hit.
George approached him to remove the mask; but, as he was reaching for the mask, he stopped.
"I'm in a middle of something," he said like he was talking to someone else.
Lance looked around if anybody else was there. There were a few town's people, but they did not seem to be talking to George. He was talking to himself.
"You want me to leave now?" he said to himself. "Fine. Fine. Don't go berserk." He looked at Lance again and said, "I guess I have to leave now. We'll meet again soon, frost mage."
A hole appeared on the ground below George, and he slowly sank in it. Soon, he was gone.
"Wait!" said Lance. As he tried to get up, his body suddenly felt numb. He could not move a muscle. He just lied on the ground enduring the numbness all over his body.
