*Nick's POV*

I finally got Hayden but Hayes is always so close to and with her. It pisses me off.

"Nick, what are you doing? This relationship is low key. Yes I understand if you're mad but i don't like Hayes in that way..." Hayden explained.

She's lying.

"If I'm gonna have a girlfriend then I want people to know she's mine. If you don't like him, I believe you but he likes you," I rolled my eyes.

I don't believe her.

"You're so...I don't know. You always get mad at Hayes but Hayes is my best friend and things might seem to be in 'that way' but trust me its not."

I don't trust her.

"Hay, if things... No you and Hayes can't be like that. Yall shouldn't even be friends," I said.

This relationship is a mistake.

"My friends are my friends," she looked at me with cold eyes, "oh look, you're one of them."

Ok.

She shook her head and walked away.

"Uh bro, I heard yall arguing. Why is being her friend so bad?" Hayes asked clearly confused.

Its not.

"Because she wasn't just a friend before," I said with anger and shoved past him.

I wasn't really angry.

*Hayes POV*

"So you and Nick sorta were together...for a day?" I asked Hay as we sat in the lobby cafe.

"Yeah Hayes. Yes. But there's always a stupid reason as to why I can't seem to date others."

"Why?"

"You."

She got up from the table and went to the cashier desk.

I walked up behind her.

"Can I get a lemon frosted muffin and a caramel frap with chocolate drizzle?" She ordered.

"Ugh yeah. I'll see. That'll be $8.25," the cashier said.

"I'll pay when I see it," Hayden sassed. She turned her back to the cashier and leaned against the counter.

"Hayden this isn't Starbucks," I chuckled.

"No kidding."

I grabbed her arm and pulled her over to a lounge chair in the cafe.

"Hayden, I don't know what you mean by me being the one who keeps you from dating."

"Look, I've tried. I just can't date when you're around," she sighed.

"Wait what?"

"I stuck up for you. I said that me and you are friends and things will seem...too friendly. But I guess that doesn't work for a boyfriend," she looked me in the eye.

"I'm sorry. If you....if I stop your relationships, then I'll back off," I told her.

"Don't back off. I'm...happy I stuck up for you. You're the only one who can genuinely make me happy," she softly smiled. She grabbed my hand and played with my fingers before getting up.

She walked over and grabbed her stuff from the cashier and paid her.

I watched as she walked away. What the hell just happened?
