Chapter 18: No way at all

The next day I come home from the mall, shopping for new clothes before school starts, and see mom sitting on the couch watching Dance Moms. I've never really been into dancing as much as I'm into music, but then again, I've never really tried. Anyway, I sit next to her and try to get her to bring up the topic of moving before I have to. Unfortunately she doesn't get the hint and I'm forced to do it myself. "Did you think about who I'm going to move in with?" I ask. I'm only 17 so I can't live on my own just yet, being my birthday just passed. Her smile fades as she thinks about the question presented to her. My mother then proceeds to tell me about my aunt who only lives an hour away. I've never met her before and I really don't want to. Its an hour away so I'd have to change schools, but I'd still get to see Maggie. Who knows? Maybe this could work after all. I highly doubt it but maybe I could give it a try. We sit in silence for a moment watching the bright screen of the television. "I invited her for dinner so you could meet her," she blurts out. I go upstairs without saying another word and wait. Wait for something to happen. Wait for my aunt to come. Wait for anything. Just when I thought I was going to have to sit there for hours, the door bell rings, causing me to jump. I run downstairs and open the door. "Is your mommy home?" The tall women asks. Oh heck no. I'm not going to be treated like a baby. "My MOTHER, is in the living room." I chime out, ruder then intended. I keep my eyes on her as she walks through the hall and sits by her sister. By the time I'm finished cooking dinner, which I've been doing since my mother is sick, the two ladies have already making their way into the dining room. Once dinner is served, we sit there in awkward silence, secretly waiting for someone to say something. "So what is her bed time?" She asks. Oh you've got to be kidding. No way am I living with this women. No way at all. And I'll do anything in my power to make sure of it.
