Hunter's POV
"Yeah, you don't strike me as a pink girl," I joked.
"What do I strike you as?" she questioned. Oh no. Did she really just ask that? I didn't even know. That's when I spotted it. The picture on her light red wall. One showed a little blonde boy and a brunette girl, about his she, sitting on a park bench. Another photographed the back sides of the kids in bathing suits, facing the open ocean. I knew exactly who these children were, and who took the pictures. My voice came out in a low whisper, "Keira..."
"Yeah? You okay?" she sounded almost worried, then turned to see me looking at the pictures.
"Where... Where did you get these?" I stuttered. How did she get them from my mom, the one who had taken them a couple years back. Although I was actually a little scared, I was too interested to drop it.
"My brother had them... What's wrong?" She asked. I couldn't tell if she knew anything or not.
"Nothing... Want help?" I said, hoping she'd drop it.
"Ugh... yeah," Keira said.
"This might hurt a little," I spoke carefully, mentally thanking God that she didn't say anything more on the topic. I gently moved her shirt and took a wash cloth, wetting it just enough to wipe the blood off. I couldnt help feeling extremely bad about causing the marks going from her low neck, to the bottom of her shoulder blades. I know I saved her from a world of pain, but I couldn't make it so there was no pain at all. I could've- I should've done more.
"I'm sorry I caused this," I whispered quietly, not knowing if I wanted her to hear.
She laughed a little, "Don't be. Now, do you mind telling-" I moved to look in her unmistakable green eyes, hoping she wouldn't bring up what I knew we were both thinking. Or maybe that was just me.
"Hmm?"
"Nothing... Never mind." Not that I wanted her to bring it up, but I want to know what's going on inside her head. Is she thinking about the kids in the pictures? Does she know that they're of me and her?
Will she ever?
"Thanks," her voice brought me back into reality.
"For what? It's my fault anyway,"
"You could've said sorry and just left it alone," but who would do that? Sure, I could have, but most people wouldn't.
All I could do to that was shrug. I heard the door downstairs open.
"Keira I'm home!"
"Hey Carrie! Hunter's here!" Keira yelled back.
"I should be going anway," I told her.
She walked me downstairs.
"Oh. Hi Hunter, nice to see you again," she gave me a polite smile.
"You too," I smiled back.
