Justin
I walk into the coffee shop and take off my sunglasses. I spot her at the table on the corner, the one near the window from where you can actually see the beach.
"Thank you for meeting me" I greet her when I take a seat next to her.
"Don't worry about it" she says, "how have you been?"
"Uhm, fine" I smile, "had breakfast with my mom the other day... And that's the most interesting thing I've done so that gives you an idea" I add. She laughs at the comment.
"I'm glad you're seeing your mom" she nods and place her hand over mine.
"What about you?" I ask her.
"Uh, well you know" she sighs, "dealing with the press".
"I'm sorry if I caused you any problems" I apologize, even though I didn't do anything. But is always good to say sorry when you had a fight with the girl you want.
"No, it wasn't your fault" she assures me. There's a small silence.
"So, uhm, I asked you to meet here to... you know" I tell her nervously, "to talk about us".
"Us?" she asks a little surprised, "I thought you just wanted to talk".
"Yes, but about our relationship" I clarify.
"You didn't said that over the phone" she looks like she wants to stand up, so I take her hand.
"Hailey, come on, just listen to me" I say really quick, "I know you were mad at me for lying to you, but I swear I've taken a look into my life, and everything is clear now".
"What are you saying?"
"I was leaving you a side for some internet fantasy" I tell her, using my mom's words, "I shouldn't have done that".
She stays quiet for a moment and I wait patiently. Looking everywhere -at the beach, at her coffee, her hands, the dog outside the café-, she seems to be really thinking about it.
"Why did you start talking to her?" she suddenly asks.
"I felt sorry for her, she seemed really upset over twitter" I tell her.
"But why did you keep it going?"
"I enjoyed talking to her" I let slip from my lips, "But I haven't talked to her since you left my house the other day, I swear" I add.
"A friend of mine once told me never to believe a desperate heart's promise" she says vaguely.
"I want you back, Hailey" I admit hoping it will make her change her mind.
