Halley

"Halley?" I hear a soft voice shouting from downstairs. My mom is home.

I move a little on what I think is my bed to realize I'm still lying on the floor, and when I open my eyes I can recognize the silhouette of another body next to me. Justin is still here. We fell asleep.

I turn and reach out my arm to get my phone that's resting over my bed and see the time. 8:27 in the morning. My mom had a long shift at the hospital. I stop on a detail that makes me open my eyes wide. It's March 1st.

"Justin?" I call his name but he's sleeping like a baby.

"Justin" I repeat.

"What?" he mumbles half asleep.

"Justin, it's your birthday" I shake him by his shoulders to wake him up.

"What?" he says again, lifting his head up and looking at me.

"It's your birthday" I grin at him, "Happy Birthday!" I exclaim while resting my arms around his neck.

"Did we fell asleep?" he laughs a little confused.

"I think so" I reply, "it's eight in the morning".

"Halley" my mom's muffled voice sounds from down the stairs as she makes her way up, "Honey, are you-" she stops the minute she opens my door and realizes I'm not alone.

"Hi, mom" I greet her awkwardly.

"Hello, Mrs. Dunn" says Justin behind me. He stands up and approaches my mom at the door, "Nice to meet you" he greets shaking her hand.

"Hello" my mom replies in a lost tone. "Halley, sweetie, could we talk outside for a minute?"

"Sure, mom" I say with a sigh, standing up and leaving Justin alone in my room.

"Honey", my mom starts with a shocked tone, "care to explain why is there a boy in your bedroom?"

"I don't really know how to" I confess with a smile my mom doesn't understand the nature of.

"Well you better find a way".

"Do you remember this boy... Justin Bieber?" I ask her playing dumb a little since she obviously does.

"Yes" she answer cautiously.

"He's in my room right now".

My mother doesn't move. She leans one hand agains the stair's banister. She blinks a few times before opening her mouth just to shut it again.

"What... How... When..." she doesn't know what to say.

"It's him" I show her a wide smile.

"I don't understand" she finally says, lifting her hands in the air, her eyes wide open. "Is this some kind of joke? Who is he?"

"All you need to know is we started talking a while ago and now we're friends" I sum it up.

"I must be fucking dreaming" she says, she starts cursing when she's tired. "So you're telling me the boy you've been obsessed for like... five years, the international pop star, teen idol, Justin Bieber is in your room? And that he's your friend?"

"Sort of" I shrug with a smile.

"I'm so done with you, young lady" she replies with a tired voice, "I don't know who is that boy in your room but you better tell your father about this".

"Mom, he's Justin Bieber" I repeat, "I know is hard to believe, but it's true, I'll tell you everything later".

She shakes her head in disbelief and starts walking down the stairs mumbling something about how she should ground me.

"Mom, I'm twenty, come on".

"Feed yourselves" I hear her say when she's reaching the second floor.

"Okay".

I turn around to invite Justin to the kitchen only to find his body in front of me, putting his jacket on.

"You're leaving?"

"I don't want to bother" he explains, "Or to upset your mom".

"Don't be a fool" I shake my hand, "she won't be upset, she doesn't care as long as we leave everything clean"

He looks doubtful.

"Besides, you won't think I'll let you leave without breakfast. A birthday breakfast, may I add" I look at him, realizing something, "Unless you really want to go".

He looks at me with his eyes squinted and his lips pressed into a thin line, teasing me.

"I've never had a birthday breakfast" he says, "I guess this will be my first time".

And after that being said, he goes right past me and starts walking down the stairs.
