Halley
I held on to his body a little longer, didn't want to say anything for the fear of him disappearing once I look up to his face, just like every time he did in my dreams.
I wait a minute, my breaths getting faster as time goes by and I suddenly realize I'm crying. A few tears roll down my cheeks and I smile because I feel like a fool. For the first time, in a good way.
"Hi, kid" I mumble against his chest.
I gather the energy and the guts to finally let him go and take a little step behind to look at his face.
"What are you wearing?" I laugh.
"You like it?" he touches his beard, "It's my little costume. I bought it so I could go unnoticed"
"Okay" I reply, holding back a little laughter.
I don't know what to do next, but apparently he does, because he takes my hand and guides me through the tables and chairs along the room to the bunch of brown leather booths next to a painted wall. We sit side by side and I feel like I'm being take out on a date. I shake my head to the feeling.
"What?" he asks me.
"This is incredible" I confess in a sigh.
"I told you we were going to meet, and at your favorite coffee shop" he states with a proud smile on his face, "You look beautiful, by the way"
"Thank you" I blush a little, "I really love this place"
"Can I get you something?" a medium height girl with a ponytail asks with a pad and a pen on her hand. "Hi, Halley!" she greets me the second she recognizes me.
"Hi, Mere" I say back, and remember I have someone by my side, "this is my friend..."
"Jack" he finishes my sentence, "nice to meet you".
"The usual?" she asks me raising her brows with attention.
"Sure" I reply with a smile, "And Jack...?"
"I'll just have the most normal and plain coffee you have" he says.
"Got it" she says without even writing anything on her little notebook.
"I see you come here often" Justin turns to look at me.
"The owners are my father's friends" I explain, "so yes, I come here more than to other places, I love the walls"
Justin nods and takes a look at the painting behind us.
"My father helped" I tell him, "not painting, he helped the artist with the constellations and planets, it's all there like it is on actual space"
"Your dad is really into stars, huh?"
"He's an astronomer" I nod, "I guess I forgot to tell you" I shrug.
"That's amazing, are you into astronomy as well?"
"Just into the things he tells me about it, he never shuts down" I chuckle.
Mere comes back barely a minute after she left with Justin's coffee and my order (hot chocolate and a cookie, yes, I know I'm twenty years old, I don't care).
"Do you want some of this?" I offer breaking my cookie in two and turning to look at him, only to find out he was already staring at me.
I don't think I could ever let those golden eyes go away.
