Halley
"Let me tell you, darling" my mom says while tucking groceries into the fridge, "If I would've known you'd become friends with Justin Bieber, I never would've bought you those expensive tickets to his concert a few years ago".
I roll my eyes. That's the kind of comment my mom gives you when you tell her you are friends with your biggest idol.
"I would" my dad says from the other side of the table, "you know, that probably led you to this" he nods repeatedly.
My dad firmly believes that everything that's happening in the present only happens because there's a series of events that led you to it. Like, "if you wouldn't have drank that beer on 1987 you wouldn't be here". And he means it.
My phone buzzes over the table and my dad gives me a knowing look. I roll my eyes and pick it up.
Justin: is it lame that I miss you?
Me: super lame
Justin: do you believe in aliens?
Me: lol what?
Justin: I'm just getting to know you
Me: my dad is here
Justin: what?!?!?
Justin: why are you talking to me then
Me: i'll think about the aliens stuff and tell you later okay? :)
Justin: sure!!! tell your parents I say hi
Me: they fangirled for a moment and then say hi back
Justin: lol that was cute
Justin: I see where you got it from
"Why are you blushing, Halley?" my dad asks just to mess with me.
"I'm not blushing" I reply.
"You're blushing" my mom says.
"I'm not! Stop!" I laugh at them.
"So when do we get to meet this Justin guy?" my dad asks, opening a bag of chips from one of the brown ones. "I'm so excited to see what he looks like" he jokes lamely.
"I don't know, he's pretty busy, you know, since he's... a pop star" I look away for a moment, realizing what I'm saying. "How long are you staying?"
"Uhm..." he looks at mom like asking for an answer and they share an awkward look they think I don't notice. "Like a week or so, maybe two".
I give him a weird look.
"Okay, so what do you want to do?" I ask him.
"I don't know" he shrugs, "we could go to the pier to take some photos for the family album, what do you think?" he smiles at me.
I want to say no, that I don't really like the pier that much and that we already have many family photos, but he looks so happy to be here and so excited to do as he says, that I can't say no.
"Sure, dad" I shrug, "let's make some memories" I let out a laugh and wrinkles form around his eyes when he smiles widely.
