~Your POV~
The transport could only take me as far as Takodana.
I found myself in the castle of Maz Kanata. I sat alone at one of the tables, pushing unnamable food around my plate with a fork. The band was playing loud music, the people here were also loud. It was uncomfortable, but I had to bear it.
This wasn't the first time I've here. Han used to take me and Ben here all the time when Leia was off doing important Republic missions.
"(Y/N) (L/N)." A familiar voice pulled my attention away from the noise. I turned to my right to see Maz Kanata herself.
"Hey, Maz," I say, giving her a weak smile.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you around here," she says, hands resting on her hips. "Where's Han and Ben? Oh, and my boyfriend?"
"Chewie left with Han two months ago," I tell her. "Ben left as well, but he went to train with his Uncle."
"You miss them, don't you?" She smiles sadly.
"Of course I do," I reply. "Why wouldn't I?"
Maz shook her head. She made her way to the seat in front of me. Her eyes study me from behind her glasses. She makes them enlarge her eyes to study me even better. "You ran away."
"No, I didn't," I lie, keeping my gaze down.
"Don't you know me child?" She asks. I fidgeted at the word 'child', since now I had a secret one to soon call my own. "I sense your lie." She studied me even more. "And your secret."
I stared at her and nervously twisted my (H/C) hair with my index finger. "Then you know why I have to keep it."
"A child isn't something to keep a secret, (Y/N)," Maz says. "It's something to be happy about. Let me guess. You have yet to tell the father."
"There is no father..." I mumbled. That was a lie. He was just away, training with Uncle.
Maz knows and calls me out for it. "Lie, again!" She sighs. "Do you not trust me anymore? That honestly hurts me, (Y/N)."
"I'm sorry, Maz," I say. "It's just no one can know. Okay?"
"Is it because of the father?" She gives me a questioning look.
I sigh. "Yes."
"So you're keeping this a secret from everyone because you don't want him to know?"
"Yes."
"Why?" I really didn't know how to answer. I guess it was because I was scared. I was scared of what people would say behind my back about me or Ben. I was scared of the future with this child. I was scared of Ben would think when he got back in five years.
"I'm afraid of what people would say," I reply. "Well...Mostly what Leia would say."
"Why?" She repeated her question. She already knew the answer, she just wanted me to say it to her. Maz wanted me to say it out loud so I would accept the answer.
"Because her son is the father," I whisper so only we were the two that could hear it.
She only smiled.
~~>>~~<<~~
I've been living with Maz the past seven months. She insisted that I stay with her, saying it was the least she could do for the child. She wanted to make sure its mother, me, was taken good care of until its birth. I hadn't complained.
She gave me the job as a waitress and paid me for it, too. It was good money. I constantly was thanking her for it. She always told me that I didn't need to. I still did.
My abdomen was fairly large now. The baby constantly kicked; it was due any day.
Maz was very good about giving me breaks and always insisted that I eat the fruits and vegetables that were shipped here from different systems. Luckily for me, I never gravitated towards sweets. The fruit and vegetables were always fresh. They always seemed like a better food choice anyway.
I still thought about Leia and Poe. I even thought about what Han and Chewie were doing. I mostly thought about Ben. I wondered what he was doing currently; I wondered about how much he's learned from his Uncle; I've also wondered if he's thinking about me. Sometimes I felt my heart stir, the Force's way of telling me he was. It always put a smile on my face.
It was only 10 mimutes after 1000. There were few patrons here, and that didn't bother me. I kept myself busy. Cleaning tables, taking back plates so they could get washed.
I over heard a few men talking about a new commander of the First Order. Someone going by the name of Kylo Ren. They also said he was the leader of the infamous Knights of Ren. Figures, though. People were being easily seduced to the Dark Side these days. They thought that the First Order was promising a better future than the one the Republic promised. That's why Leia created the Resistance three years ago. She hoped to stop the First Order at any cost.
I sighed at the memories I shared from being in the Resistance. The countless piloting exercises with Poe, all of the Resistance briefings I had to go to. Poe was considered the best pilot the Resistance ever had. I came at a close second. I had to stop myself before I cried. I had to remember: today was just going to be a normal day.
But then it wasn't. There was a sharp pain that registered below my abdomen, then a wet sensation. I try to stifle a cry with my hand, but it doesn't work. I drop a few plates, which catches everyone's attention. Including Maz's. She immediately understood what was happening. She ushered everyone out of her castle, even the band, telling them that no one was allowed to come back for a week. That helped everyone leave quicker.
"Maz, I think-" I start, but she interrupts.
"I know, child, I sense it," she says, taking my hand. "Come."
She leads me up the stairs towards the room I have claimed as mine for the last seven months. I walk slowly up each step until we finally make it to my room. It had a skylight in the roof, the bed was off in the far corner. Maz leads me towards it, helping me lay down without causing me much pain.
I felt the contractions. They were unlike any pain I have ever felt. Maz ran back down the stairs only to return with a medical droid.
"You never told me you had a medical droid," I say in-between breaths.
"You never asked," she responded.
I stared up at the skylight. The sun was hiding behind a few clouds. Everything seemed peaceful, then another wave of contractions came upon me.

13 hours.
I endured 13 hours of painful contractions.
It was getting close to midnight and I was tired. My (H/C) hair was pulled into a bun on top of my head. Maz reminded me that I just had to push harder. I watched as the lights in my room flickered as I continued to cry out in pain.
I looked up at the skylight again. There were countless stars visible, but one small, bright one in particular caught my attention. It looked blue compared to the white little lights of the other stars. In this moment, I heard a baby's cry. The star still held my attention.
"It's a girl, (Y/N)," I heard Maz say.
I looked back over at Maz, who helped the medical droid clean up my little newborn baby girl. After wrapping her up in one of the blankets Maz had present, she handed my daughter to me. I just took the moment in. My newborn continued to cry, but I quickly calmed her.
I looked back up at the little, blue star and smiled.
"Tarika," I say, looking now at my little girl. "Her name is Tarika." I pressed my lips to her tiny forehead. "Tarika, my little star."
