Chapter 5

Peridot's pov~

Steven summoned his bubble around himself, since he needed to breathe, and rolled into the softly rolling waves. Amethyst turned into a creature called a shark, and jumped in, While Pearl waded in carefully and eventually disappeared under the water.

Garnet walked in as if she was walking through air. I jumped in carefully. Once I saw a splash I grinned. I splashed in farther until I was underwater. I saw the gems in the distance, and swam towards them.

Stevens pov~

It was beautiful under the sea! Colorful coral reefs were placed all around me, and the fish swam around me... They were pink tinged to me, because of the bubble.

But they could never compare to Peridot. Her usually triangular hair floated around her, and she had a cute goofy grin on her face. It was beautiful.

Wait, what? I'm not foreign to calling her cute, but beautiful? But wait...
The fish were swimming towards the shore, for some reason. We were a whiles out, but I knew something was up. They were swimming in the same direction, as if away from something.

I started to panic. Malachite! What if Malachite was near!? I started to call for Peridot as the other Crystal Gems froze suspiciously. They knew something was up, too.

Peridot swam over to me quickly. I almost lost my focus and the bubble faltered, giving time for Peridot to swim nearer to me. I made the bubble again, but at least two feet of water was trapped at the bottom, and Peridot was in it.

"Steven! Malachite is coming! The fish are going towards shore!" She starts to pull at her soaked hair, which was flat and sticking to the sides of her head. It was also darker green.

I felt the urge to comfort her, so I hugged her and surprisingly, she hugged back. "S-Steven! I don't want- we're going to- She's too powerful! We're going to diiiiiiiieeeee! I don't want to be shattered..." She sniffled, "I don't want you to die..." I

hug her tighter, and she screams as a layered voice screams.

It's malachite...

I look over at where it came from, starting to panic. I saw four gems laying on the ocean floor. Malachite looked back at the gems like she should do something first, then continues to crawl towards us, glaring at us like prey.

"Rose! Peridot? You traitor! What are you doing with rose!" Malachite screams.
"J-Jasper?" Peridot whispers. Malachite seems to hear it.
"You little BRAT! I'll make you PAY for betraying homeworld!" Malachite growls. She lunges at us...

And Peridot screams, while still hugging me...

I will save her, no matter what, no matter if I die, I will save her.
