Chapter 27

(6:00 P.M.)

I helped the gems pick up and clean up the mess by picking up scrap pieces of metal and putting it in the barn. As we walked back to the temple, I tried to strike up a conversation with Peridot. "So how was the fight?" I asked, "You obviously won, but what did it feel like to win? Why did you fight in the first place?"

"It wasn't all that great, I just felt like I needed to defend you. She was so rude!" Peridot gritted her teeth angrily. I ruffled her hair affectionately, before noticing we were two feet away from the temple steps. Peridot can distract me from anything.

     We go inside, of course, and begin to watch TV in my room on my bed while Pearl and Amethyst go into their rooms, Lapis watches Jaspers gem, Garnet watches Lapis and Emerald, and Emerald sits beside Lapis suspiciously on the couch. "Hey, Emerald, you can go hang out with Amethyst." Garnet tells her. Garnet goes and opens the door for Emerald, so Emerald runs inside excitedly. Garnet motions for Lapis to go too, so she sighs and goes. Garnet takes Jaspers gem and goes into her room. Something's suspicious about leaving me and Peridot all alone... Oh, wait, Garnet has future vision.

"So, tonight do you want to try sleeping?" I ask Peridot. Peridot looks at me curiously. "Sleep? Oh, yeah, your human ritual. It looks really boring." She replies, leaning closer to me. She rests her head on my shoulder and I lean my head into her soft, pillowy hair.   "So you do want to sleep?" I chuckle after we had stayed that way for a while. "Sure..." She mutters, snuggling into me and wrapping her arms around me. I turn off the TV and lay down, pulling Peridot down with me. Peridot jerks slightly, and pulls one arm out from under me (where she was hugging me), but relaxes and smiles into my neck. I lay one arm around her.

(10:00 P.M.)

    I wake up to the sound of Peridot laughing. I look at Peridot, whose head is tilted towards the ceiling, and whose mouth isn't moving. However, there was a dream projection from her gem.
"Steven-hahahahahaha-stop!" Dream-Peridot laughed as dream-me tickled her. I watched her dreams for while, until they suddenly stopped.

(Emeralds pov🌝~)

     Lapis and I cracked up laughing at Amethysts absurd pose. On homeworld we wouldn't have been aloud to even witness this foolishness! Oh well! Amethyst was crouched with her hands stretched under herself as far as she could go without shapeshifting, and her  chin was on the floor, making her face scrunch up. Lapis and I were sitting on an old 'mattress'.

    "That's such a weird pose!" I snicker, wiping water from my eyes. "I know!" Lapis says to me. I blush, embarrassed, as my eyes meet hers. I avert my eyes back to Amethyst, who was getting up from the ground.
