Chapter 4

Peridot's pov~💗

          I saw Steven start to wake up. No, I wasn't watching him sleep. I was sitting on the couch, just as I had been all night. What? I had nothing else to do! He sat up and stretched, which for some reason made my heart beat at a rapid rate, and heat flush over me.

      I hated it, but loved it at the same time. Steven snapped me out of my thoughts by saying, "Peri, were you watching me sleep?" He asked. I just stared for a moment before choking out these fine words:
   "W-what? No! Well, k-kind of, yes, I mean, No! I was- yes... But I had nothing else to do! I had nothing else to watch, because I was sitting on this couch all night. Curse you, couch!!!" I rambled.

         Steven laughed softly. "Why don't you try sleeping, Peridot?" He asked. "I don't know how. Besides, it's 'morning' time now. Aren't you only supposed to sleep during the night?" I asked rhetorically. "No, you can take naps." He told me, "But I was planning on doing something today, so your right."

       He got out of bed and got some cereal for himself. "Is the cereal as good as the Macroni and cheese?" I asked him as he poured the cereal into a bowl. "Is Macaroni, Peridot. And yes, I guess." He said. "Hey, that rhymed!"

       I assumed the so called 'rhyme' was the 'yes', and 'guess' in his sentence. "Can I have some cereal?" I asked. He nodded and poured me some cereal. It was colorful and sweet. I LOVED IT!!!

        "So what are we- I mean you going to do?" I asked him, before he went to 'get changed'. Apparently it's when he gets different 'clothes' on. "I was planning to go to look for Malachite with the gems!" He said excitedly.

      He went into the bathroom to get changed before I could ask him what a Malachite is. It sounds like a type of fusion. It probably isn't, though. I waited for him to come out, and when he did, I asked a question.

"Can I come?"
"If the crystal gems say you can," Steven replied, "I'm sure they'll let you come, if you promise to behave!" He pokes me on the nose, making the heat from earlier wash over me. 

      "Aww, Peridot, Your blushing!" His face started to grow red, too. "Sh-Shut up!" I snapped. I knew what blushing was, I had saw enough of it on the camp show. "But your so cute!" He hugged me. I flicked him. "Ow!" He yelped, then pretended to be angry.

       "I'm going to get you for that!" He yelled, with a smile on his face though. Pearl came rushing in to see what all the yelling was about, only to see me and Steven rolling around on the floor in a mock fight, throwing fake insults and laughing and squealing.

      I could've swore I saw a small smile on her face before she interrupted us.
"What are you two doing?!" She shouted. "Sorry Pearl..." Said Steven. Me and Steven looked at each other and snickered.

          Garnets door opened and she came into the living room, stepping over the warp pad into the 'living room'. I still don't get how a room can be living. Especially since it has no living qualities whatsoever.

         "It's time to find Malachite." She said simply. "Peridot, you can come." She added, as I opened my mouth to ask. I smiled at Steven, and he smiled back. "But wait..." I remembered I didn't know what a Malachite was.

   "What's a Malachite?" I asked. Amethyst came out of her room a second before I asked that. She opened the fridge and started to eat random things.

        "You see, when the ship you and Jasper and Lapis were on crashed, Jasper and Lapis fused. Their fusion, of course, is named Malachite. The Lapis part of Malachite locked herself down under the sea." Pearl explained.

         "So... Why are we looking for them?" I asked. "They might be unstable." Garnet replied. "What are we going to do about that?" I questioned. Garnet opened her mouth, but nothing came out, so she just closed it.

     "Well... Um..." Pearl didn't know what to say. Amethyst just kept eating. "I swear Peridot, if you ask any more questions I think I might unfuse... Honestly, I don't know. We'll figure it out." Garnet assured. I noticed Steven was already outside.

      "Come on, let's DO THIS!!!" Amethyst yelled.
