Chapter 26

(Lapis's pov💙~)

      "I'm not fighting. Not anymore. I gave up a long time ago." I say, afterwards realizing I just regenerated. "Um, what?" I mutter to myself, looking around at my surroundings. I'm in the temple. I glare at Jaspers gem on the couch. Ugh. Let's see what's going on outside. I open the door and go out. Pearl, Amethyst, Peridot, Steven, a red gem holding a blue gem, and another gem that looks oddly familiar, are at the barn. Peridot is charging at the familiar gem with a green axe. Oh yeah, that's the gem the crystal gems were going to fight. I have to see this!

(Peridot's pov✌~)

I run at Emerald once again, raising my axe above my head to strike. It's not heavy at all. I swing it at Emerald as soon as I get close enough. A thick tree grows with a loud rumble right where I was aiming, and my axe gets stuck in it. Thorns grow along the ridge of Emeralds wings, and she swoops up into the air with her wings, cackling. I pry my axe out swiftly, but she's already aiming herself towards me. Like an arrow, she comes shooting right at me.

"OOF!" She landed right in my stomach, barreling me over. I see a glimpse of Pearl covering Stevens eyes. Emerald punches me in the face, about three times before I finally get the chance to do something. I roll over on top of her, and drop my axe. I don't want more poofed gems. I slap her in the face. "This is stupid." I mutter, then get off of her.

"Coward!" She calls to me, but I don't listen. I'm too busy going back to what I was doing before. "Great job Peridot." Garnet tells me. "Thank you. Wait, Garnet?!" I look to see if it's her. Sapphire must've returned. "Didn't you notice?" She asked me, smiling excitedly for some reason.
"No, I was fighting." I tell her, looking at the gear box. So much time wasted.
"Peridot, you summoned your weapon!" Garnet puts her hand on my shoulder and looks me in the eyes. I think...

"Oh. My. STARS! I did!" I shout, getting up just to jump up and down. Garnet jumps up and down slightly too. I feel somebody hug me from behind. "You did it, Peri!" Steven yells into my ear. "Please don't tell in my ear!" I clutch my ear, but the pain subsides quickly. "I'm sorry." He apologizes, letting go of me. I spin around to face him and hug him. "Wait, Peri, I have a question." He drags me into the barn, motioning Garnet to give us a second alone. "Since we both know we love each other... Does that mean we're, um, dating?" He asks awkwardly.

      "I prefer to not use the word dating, I've tried to understand the word in the past and I still don't quite understand. I prefer to say we're in love. It's much simpler. Well, the word is, the feeling isn't simple at all!" I chuckle. Steven chuckles too. I rub the back of my neck, blushing. "Let's get back to work."
