Black Rain, Stevidot

Chapter 8

Stevens pov~

"Steven, It's not that bad... It's nothing compared to-" Peridot cuts herself off, flinching. "What's wrong?" I ask her, grabbing her hand to comfort her.

    "It's nothing." Peridot mumbles. "Are you sure?" I squint my eyes suspiciously at her. "I said it's nothing!" Peridot snapped. "Is it?" I ask. "Yes!!!"
"Are you sure?"

    Peridot rolls her eyes, but they widen as we hear the sound of one of the gems regenerating. Rubys gem is floating in midair, Followed by Sapphires about five seconds later. Ruby fell down onto the floor, and shouts "SAPPHIRE!!!", only to Sapphire to plop down on top of Ruby.

      They hug each other and fuse again. Peridot stares wide eyes at Garnet, who is now staring at us in surprise. "What happened?" She asks, but then sees Lapis and Jaspers gems. "What are they doing here?!" She raises her voice.

       "W-Well... I thought th-that since Peridot here got a second chance... They could too?" I stuttered. "Lapis tried to drown us, AND take the whole ocean, which could have killed the human race! Jasper knocked us all out and attempted to shatter me!" Garnet reasons.

     "I tried to kill you and help kill the human race too..." Peridot spoke up meekly. Garnet pulls down her glasses and rubs her temple, groaning. That groaning gets louder and louder until it was almost a scream. Garnet unfused swiftly, leaving an arguing Ruby and Sapphire.

           Sapphire was frosting over half of the room, while Ruby was starting a fire. "Both of you! Outside!" I yelled. Ruby glared at me but stomped outside, leaving a trail of fire.

Sapphire walked purposely in the trail of fire, putting it out. The floor was still warm, so no ice was left there. Peridot still stared wide-eyed at what just happened. "Erm......" She makes a confused noise.

           "Hey, at least they unfused in time for Valentine's Day!" I joke nervously. "Volintens day?" Peridot looks even more confused. "Valentine's day" I correct her. After a while of correcting, she gets it.

      "Valentine's day is when you give gifts and cards to someone you love, and tell them that you love them!" I tell her excitedly. "What is love?" Peridot asks. My mouth drops open. "Well, there are different types of love..."

        "There's family love, where you feel warm and happy, no matter what, there's a crush, where you feel your heart beating fast and you hear up, and there's the step after the crush, when you get to know and love them in a romantic way... Like Sapphire and Ruby."

      I glance out the window after my long explanation, and Ruby and Sapphire holding hands and watching the colorful strip of light over the ocean. Then I asked myself something...

Do I like Connie? We have had so many adventures together... I don't think I do... The reason that I don't think I like Connie is....

I think I like Peridot...
