I was awakened by a noise. My eyes slowly fluttered open, and I buried my face into the pillow. My hands fumbled around the bedside table, grasping the nearby clock."Five minutes." I groaned. "Just five freakin minutes dad. Please."
"Dad who? It's Amber babe. Now get up, you have a very special mission today."
"You're not Amber, Amber's dead." I peeked out the sheets to find a pair of blue eyes staring back at me. Her auburn hair glistened in the sun, a perfect shadow of her laid on the floor.
This is all just one big hallucination, she's not real.
I got up and headed towards the bathroom, grabbing my makeup bag along the way.
She sighed, "You can't ignore me forever Hailey."
"Actually, I can. You're practically dead, and it's been that way for the past seven years so I say you move your ass back to the other side, and stop scaring the hell out of me. Thank you."
"Fine, but don't come whining to me when you find out what you're dad actually wants you to do." She whispered into my ear. "And trust me, it's not what you think it is."
"It's nothing different, there's literally nothing 'special' about this mission. I'm a guardian angel and missions are an everyday thing. You should know that, you were once one. But then you died, and I still don't know how or why or who was the cause of it, but all I know is that you're dead. Now please move, I have a meeting to get to."
I slammed the door shut, and went in to take a shower.
I brushed through my light curls, staring at myself in the mirror.I'm a guardian angel, and this is my life. I live with my dad in the castle. Yes, castle. And no, you didn't hear me wrong.
I'm Princess Hailey, and my dad is the king of The Angelic Kingdom. And my mom?
Well, she's.. dead. And so is Amber.
She's my childhood best friend, but some maniac murdered her when we were seven. And honestly, even though she's dead, it's like I can still feel her presence.
Every once in a while, all guardian angels are given missions to complete, people to guard, and even save sometimes.
As a guardian angel, I learned a lot. I give more than I take, I protect those I love, even those I don't know anything about.. my job is to protect them.
I've been trained ever since I was little, I was taught everything I needed to know and then I was officially given the title of "Guardian Angel."
And now I'm 15 years old, and I don't regret becoming the person I am today.
A bright light crept its way through the room, and I turned around suddenly, finding Amber in the middle of the bathroom, standing with a polite smile on her face.
"I'm literally naked. Get out. It's enough that you've been following me around all morning which I don't get because you're practically dead. Let alone the fact a ghost is standing in front of my face and I'm half naked."
"Shut up, I've seen you naked before." She laughed, opening the door. "Fine I'll get out, whatever you say, you're highness."
I sighed.
Ugh I miss her so much, she's on the other side of heaven but I still miss her. Not physically, because she practically lives in my mind.
