July 19th: Day Three
"Morning sunshine," A soothing voice whispered into my ear.
The sun gleamed through the window, splashing a line of gold across the warm blankets.
"Good morning Michael," I smiled, giving him a little cuddle.
I could hear the distant sound of loud voices and stood up to look outside. I rolled out of the tent and stretched my arms in front of me.
Why are there so many sounds?
"Hey, you okay?" He asked, rubbing my back gently.
"Yeah, I'm just hearing all these different voices, I can't concentrate." I said confusingly, now looking over the plain meadow to find no one there.
"There's no one here except us," Michael replied, "no one has ever been allowed to get in, you're hallucinating."
"I'm sure I'll be fine, let's just pack our things for now." I winced at the sound of people's voices drifting in and out of my ear.
We picked up the blankets and put them back into our bags, when all of a sudden I began feeling dizzy.
"Hey, hey!" Michael shouted, sliding an arm round my waist hastily. "Careful there princess."
I took a deep breath and stood up, eying my surroundings carefully.
"Who's there?" Someone shouted.
That voice definitely sounds familiar.
"Hailey?" Michael asked confusingly, shaking my shoulders gently. "You okay?"
"Who's speaking?" I said, looking far over the plain. "Anyone there?!"
"It's Theo!" A voice called back.
"Theo?"
Michael looked at me weirdly, as if I was the only one hearing this. "Why do you keep saying Theo?"
"Because he's here, can't you hear him?" I said, arching my eyebrows confusingly.
"Umm, no. I'm pretty sure no one's here," he giggled.
"But.."
"Hailey, we need to go." Michael interrupted, solemnly staring into my eyes.
"No, I can- I can hear Theo," I whined as he pushed me in front of him.
"MICHAEL!" I screamed, a fierce rush of wind suddenly leaving my body.
I could see his eyes slowly widen by the minute.
What have I turned into?
Slowly, Michael took my hand, now pulling me closer to him. I could've sworn I could hear his heart beating.
I could hear voices, sounds of people's screams. My name. Theo calling at me, I could hear everything.
"I'm not scared of you," he said, still looking me in the eyes.
"I-'m scared of me," I stuttered, tears threatening to fall from my eyes. "I'm scared of myself. I can't control my powers, I just shouted at you for no god damn reason."
What kind of angel am I?
"Hailey Roland Evans, you're the best thing that ever happened to me. Not a single shred of pain, not anger, not screams and shouts, nothing. Nothing can threaten to drag me away from you."
I was looking into his eyes, looking at all the love and the hope that sank in the depth of those beautiful blue eyes.
I smiled weakly, looking down at the ground. "I'm sorry, let's just go look for the second gate."
