Dad cleared his throat as he began speaking."The Path of Illumination, leads to four different pathways, and each one is associated with one chamber. There are four chambers that are meant to be there as an obstacle to breaking your mother's tomb spell. The entire point here is to bring her back to life by breaking the spell that is keeping her body hidden. So basically, you have to break through those chambers."
"And where exactly is that path?" I asked, trying to comprehend what he's saying.
"Yeah.. about that," he replied awkwardly. "It's, uh.. in Rome, more specifically, in The Vatican."
"Why Rome?" I interrogated, "why not any other country?"
"Because your mother died in Rome, and it was where the path was found." he explained.
"So what you're saying is, I have to go to that path.. destroy the four chambers, and then break the tomb spell, and bring mom back to life?"
"Not quite," he pointed out. "It's not just you, both you and Alex."
"Great," I huffed. "Just what I needed, so both me and my stepbrother are going on a suicide mission."
Alex rolled his eyes. "And what's so bad about that, missy?"
I always avoid looking into his eyes, it's like I'm naturally drawn to them. Those soul-piercing metallic green eyes.
"Can you say something without being sarcastic for once?" I asked, sighing.
Dad let out a loud sigh, grabbing our attention, "Grow up will you?"
"Only if she does," Alex crossed his arms over his chest annoyingly.
"Okay, dad, just ignore him," I huffed in annoyance, "so what's the plan?"
"You head to Rome, though that's not gonna be hard thanks to your wings," he continues, "and after that someone else will be there to help you."
"Someone else?"
"Well.. yes you can say that," he states dryly, "you'll be guided by a guy named Theo when you get there, and he'll help you along the way. You need to have the necklace around your neck at all times, it's more important than you think it is."
"How so?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.
"That necklace contains a portion of your mother's essence, since it was the only thing that was left of her other than her wings."
I tilted my head confusingly, trying to understand.
"Um," I mumbled, " dad, what are you trying to say?"
"Your mother will stand by you whenever you need anything," he said, a small smile forming on the corner of his mouth. "She'll be there the entire time, in fact she's here now."
"Dad, I know I had a connection with her, and I know she's on the other side and I'm supposed to see her.. even though she's dead. But I never did," I sighed.
How come I can see my dead best friend, Amber, but not my mom?
They're both dead, so what's the difference?
